Turbo Grafx 16 Controller Issues.

I have a TG16 and one of the round buttons does not function. I have used contact cleaner and even tried using the contact pad from a different controller. I dont see any rust, solder build up, scratching or other circuit issues visually. Is there anything I can do to fix it. I can always go and buy a controller, I just preffer to fix it.

What happens when you close the circuit with a wire? Do you notice anything wrong with the cable connector to the board, or the pins on the plug or console? In my experience with problems like this, the chip is bad and you'll probably end up tossing it for a new controller.

When using a wire it just kinda spikes without really making sence. i.e. jumping in a game the wire makes 1 out of 5 or 6 tries work. I am wondering if theres cleaners better suited for the black coil looking contacts, as opposed to the bare metal contacts.
