I wonder if anyone knows why or has had this happen. I have a GB cart from Brazil that I picked up a while back. It has some awesome games on it like Ninja Gaiden, Bat Man, Contra, ect. I put it in my Gameboy console but I can only hear the noise, can't see the screen really. But when I put the same game on my Super Game boy to be played on the SNES, it works perfectly. Anyone know what this could be or anyone have had this same problem before? I'm very curious.

Do you happen to have a gba to test it out on? Any kind of multicart will have compatibility problems.

It's a bootleg, plenty have problems playing on certain systems. What Gameboy did you try playing it on? Was it an original? It would probably only work on earlier systems, no GBA or later systems.

Try wiping down the connector inside the GB with 99% isopropyl alcohol. There appears to be something on the cartridge's connector, too.

I don't have an original GB to test it on. Only GBA and GBC. Both have same problems. I took a few photos so you can see how it looks when inserted in the GBA. Like I said it works perfect when in the Super Game Boy player for the SNES but not when in a GBA.

I think the cutout on the cartrige would imply the use of the origional gameboy. Just a thought.

Yeah I have a lot of pirated GB carts and they all work perfectly fine on both the GBA and in the Super Game Boy adapter for the SNES. This is the only one that was being tricky. Maybe I'll try cleaning it better with alcohol

Try it on an actual Game Boy, not an Advance. I've had the same problem with bootlegs before not working on a GBA but worked just fine on a GBC.

It's because it's incompatible with a GBA, I'm sure that's what's wrong with it. It looks like an early bootleg as it's huge, I've come across some bootlegs with similar problems.

The GBC/A have definable palettes in Colour mode (and even in B/W mode) so obviously the BG palette is being set to all white, and the sprite palettes to various dark shades. Either the menu program is doing that, or the GBC Bootup ROM is recognizing the menu program as a certain game and setting its palette to something weird.

An origional or if you know someone with one, a gameboy pocket.

Sooner or later I'll get a grey GB. Not many of my friends collect vintage games
Use a custom colour palette. After powering on the GBA, hold left & B (my favourite).
