4 years ago, I bought my Saturn system off a Craigslist listing. A year later, I picked up a 10-game Saturn lot through a local shopper paper classified ad for $10. Additionally, I have picked up miscellaneous Saturn games at retro shops and thrifts from time to time as recently as a few years ago.

These days: Nada.

Has all the Saturn stuff gone to ebay and Amazon?

I've run into a few Saturn games at swapmeets in the last year or so. Most of them were sports titles, but eh.. I don't think I've ever seen the system or any controllers anywhere but at independent game stores, though.

i see the saturn listed fairly ocassionally on craigslist.. i just saw this morning where someone was selling just the console and hookups for $50....and he had a seperate listing for just saturn games (8 games...mostly sports and couple common shooters)... for $50

so the deals i have seen are not exactly great ones

I still see Saturn consoles at thrift stores and flea markets. However, I do see less quality retro games out in the wild compared to a few years ago. More buyers I guess.

I think around here it mainly has to do with resellers buying up everything they can find just to put it on ebay instead of getting a real job. I remember when resellers used to really lowball me by saying they'd buy my whole lot of SNES stuff for $100 when I had tons of popular titles that can go for at least $10 a piece in local stores. And then when I told them no, just buy the ones you want for my specified price, they would get mad and flag my post for removal every time I would reupload it. I kept doing that for about 2 hours straight until they gave up and quit doing it.

Its insane, one group of resellers in my area has gone around to all the thrifts and pawns in the area trying to get store managers to hold anything retro that comes in for them. They've apparently been successful with some of these stores and then everything they get immediately goes on Kijiji or ebay. They also co-ordinate their smart phones so that anything that shows up on craigslist or kijiji, they're immediately on it. A couple of years ago, I'd do a search on ebay for video games being sold within 25 kilometers of my house and there wouldn't even be one page worth. I checked yesterday and there's well over a dozen pages and at least half is retro stuff.

Yeah people need to swoop in and take them as soon as they see good games or whole systems. Its one of the hardest consoles to emulate, so theres more of the need for the actual hardware to play the games than other major systems.

Maybe Sega should jump on the retro console clones and make a clone of it?

Probably one of the smartest things I've heard in a long time.

While we are at it, how about more Saturn games on virtual/digital consoles? And I mean more than just NiGHTS HD.

Emulation or remaking the games from their Saturn versions will be a huge pain in the ass, so its only worth it for the very major games on the console. Like Nights and Radiant Silvergun. Thats why Sega could only really do a clone of the Saturn, the damn thing is too complicated to be trusted to someone else remaking it.

I bought a cheap Saturn a few years ago so I could start collecting, but I've literally run into a copy of NiGHTS with the 3D controller and a CIB Fighter's Megamix in the wild. That's it.

I'm mainly a Playstation collector, but I would love to have some of the RPGs for the Saturn (especially Magic Knight Rayearth @_@). I've been so discouraged after never running into anything at local thrift stores and such. Maybe the Saturn just wasn't popular in my area?

Saturn stuff are still around, just depending on your area, and the right timing like spring cleaning right now ;) I was luckly last year to find anything related to Saturn games, much so the RPG genre. Years prior to those finds, nothing of any sort would pop up so keep searching, you'll hit gold sooner or later :)

Pretty much. I don't find it that often and it's definitelyt more systems/accessories than games but I still find Saturn stuff every now and then. It hasn't completely dried up the way 3DO stuff has.
