View Full Version : What is the one thing in your collection that you are most proud of?
We all have our own collections, and within these collections, there are certain things that you value more than others. It could be a certain game, or accessory, or even a console that is for some reason special to you, for any reason. For me, it would be my collection of all the main Pokémon games released on Gameboy systems. I recently found the last one I needed to complete the set (Pokémon Gold), and I am so pumped. So, again, which part of your collection do you value more than the rest?
I am most proud of the fact that I have no chaff in my collection, and only games that I will play or have played and enjoyed, instead of arbitrary items that have no entertainment value.

Can't imagine that anybody who isn't a hardcore MEGA64 fan would appreciate it, but since I am one of those to an extreme degree, it is my favorite item.

I have the copy of Final Fantasy for nes that I rented like 4 times when I was a little kid. Its the game that got me into RPGs and really held my interest in the nintendo nes. Ive played it for hours and beat it multiple times. Its also the game that got me started in collecting nes games again later in my life.
It still has the rental sticker from the place that rented the game out, its located like 10 minutes down the road from my house. Funny thing is I found the cart at the local salvation army many years after the rental store closed.

As of now, my most prized item is my pristine CiB copy of McDonalds Treasure Land Adventure. It's not the rarest game, not the best TREASURE game, hell, not even from my childhood, but you know what? I don't care. I absolutely love it. It's one of the most creative games I've ever played and I can't help but smile every time I go through it again. I'd sooner part with many of my rarer cartridges and discs than with ol' Ronald.

Nah, that ronald is from the GameGear port of Mick and Mack as the Global Gladiators. I only chose it because it's disturbing. Think I'll put TLA ronald up there instead.

Hmmm. Probably convincing a seller at a Flea Market to sell me his Vectrex for $10.00. I also have Texas Chainsaw Massacre on the Atari 2600. So those 2 things for sure I am most proud of.

I don't go out looking for rare games/consoles but I have to say I love my Top Loader NES, it's been modified for AV output, an LED light when it's powered on, and I had all the caps and such replaced on the board to make it more reliable.

I personally find media more disturbing when being disturbing is unintentional, like tons of early children's cartoons and records, (and gamegear nightmare ronald), this being a prime example:

My copies of Bubble Bobble Part 2 for the NES and Liquid Kids for the Saturn, I especially hold Liquid Kids in high regard, it's one of the finest Taito side scrolling platformers out there. And the Saturn port is pretty much perfect from what I've read and can see.
My copy of Bubble Symphony for the Saturn is also a nice prize, it too is damned near perfect (I hear it is arcade accurate).

For me, it's owning the absolute gem of a game that is Shantae CIB.
http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt210/videogametradertv/Rarity%20Zone/Shantaeboxandgame.png
I picked it up exactly on its release date in 2002 because I was really anticipating it (IIRC IGN and a few other sites had previews and I thought it just looked stunning) and I paid my $39 for it. Nowadays, it's shot up in value like mad, but regardless of its, value I feel proud of being own of the people who supported it when it was released. I'm happy in that my money went to the creators, not to some guy on ebay selling it for several fold what it was originally sold for.

My favorite item would have to be my Atari LYNX handheld. My cousin let me use it when I was in the hospital as a youngin. For the longest time I searched for one. [before I was into eBay and local classifieds]. Two years ago I finally found one at a pawn shop. Not only was it in perfect shape it had the box, manuals and even a game Checkered Flag complete. I now have it in the center of my shelf set. And when I get my game room set up my framed Checkered Flag poster will be the first thing you see.

My factory sealed copy of The Battle of Olympus for NES. It's not my favorite childhood game or anything. Heck, I didn't even hear of it until probably around 2007. But it's the best NES game I discovered since I got back into classic gaming after over a decade. As soon as I ran into that sealed copy during a craigslist transaction, I had to have it.

Yep, I'm sure I'm one of many people who can remember regrettably passing that one up many times over at EBGames. :( Being released after many people assumed the console was dead (and buried in shovelware when it was alive), it was probably easy to look at the box and assume it was just some game based on a NickJr/PBS show nobody's heard of. :P

For me it's the NES Sharp TV. Lucked into this in a dragged out pingpong of email and calls between Dec 2011 and Jan 2012 when I finally got it. It's like in near perfect shape, nothing missing on the body, two controllers and a remote (lightly damaged with a crack on the side) and initially came with 7 basic common games and an orange zapper too for just $225 (plus a 150~mile round trip in time/gas) to get it. Former owner was one with no kids, adult in the military used it during the NES boom in the 89-90 era then just as a bedroom tv for years before just shoving in a back room to collect dust so it was cared for.

My atari 8 bit series in most special which is why it's the only series I didn't sell off.
My xegs system is the prized system cause its the first game system I've ever had
My most prized games would be mogul maniac on a romox reprogrammable cartridge. I got that with 3 other romox released games with a rusted out Atari 400 for 1.00. That one cart is a crown jewel since I've never seen another one.
Blue max pole position and qix are my favorite a8 games I can play them all day.
My lone non a8 collectible item is an Atari 2600 pitfall cart autographed by David crane. I got it on atari age after the cge in 2002 or 2003 I forget the year. I debate trading or selling it but its just so cool to have someone that cool and meant so much to video games I haven't had the heart to sell it.
I hope that my greatest finds for this series are yet to come
a Romox Mogul Maniac, that's awesome. And rare as f*ck as Amiga only had a prototype version for the A8 computer ready. Well scored, a once in a life-time.
Mine's still my game.com modem

My favorite item is my SNES asciipad. It was the first pad I ever used for the system back in the day, when I only had a famiclone at home and played SFII on rental stores. I was thrilled when I found it, specially because gaming stuff is much more expensive and hard to find here in Brazil.
I'm also very fond of my NES, because I was a famiclone kid (as most brazilians), and of the modded Genesis (s-video, stereo sound AV jacks+ region switches) I got from DP member ooXxXoo; aside from being a Genesis and not a Mega Drive, it's nearly impossible to get a decent mod job done here - and the one on my genny is superb.

It's amazing that you've got the original monitors for the Teradrive as well. I've seen the units themselves but having the original monitor is a real rarity. Those normally got tossed or people didn't want to import them due to the weight. The fact that you've got a set is quite commendable!

My CIB Missle Command for the Atari 2600, it was our game of choice for the family to gather around Saturday night and see who could get the high score. Loser made the popcorn. The really short version: In late November of '99 my dad sold meth to an undercover cop and the place was shut down.
I like to remember the good times, though. Seeing the (fabled at the time) Tengen Tetris come in, getting a Japanese Saturn and learning about all the games we never got here, and the greatest thing of all-time: Catching a guy stuff an empty CD case down his pants when he thought no one was looking.
