View Full Version : Anyone have any info on Kidsroom/Kidzone?

So, I distinctly remember a program on my Windows 95 PC that I used to play a lot as a kid. It was either called "kidsroom" or "kidzone", featured animal mascots with voices as well as some water-able plants with faces on the main screen, and had various puzzles (I remember the slider and matching puzzles above all else). Sure, not the most amazing app, but it was something I really enjoyed back then.

However, looking for it now yields nothing - I had initially thought it was a game included with windows 95, like our old copy of mechwarrior 2 was, but I can't find an image of it, gameplay videos...hell, I can't even find SCREENSHOTS.

Anyone able to shed some light on this lost app?

Was it on an IBM Aptiva by chance? There was an app called Kids' Room that was included with Aptiva systems, which was basically an interactive desktop and program launcher. I remember there being a bunch of little mini games/puzzles, and there were characters who would talk or do certain things if you clicked on them.

I too enjoyed this as a child (if it is indeed what you are referring to). I recall pixel hunting for what seemed like ages, just trying to hear all of the noises or figure out what objects I could interact with.

Does The Playroom sound familiar? http://www.giantbomb.com/the-playroom/3030-3786/

That's definitely it! Glad to see someone else remembers it! Now, if I could actually find some information on it besides being on an aptiva...hmm...

The system itself is long gone, but I do still have all of my Aptiva resource and backup discs lying around somewhere. I'll check to see if it's on any of them.

Wow! I've been looking for this for many years!

Did you manage to install it or are you able to send over any install files? I'd love to (try) and get it running and relive the memories!

Thanks,
Liam

Check your PMs! It appears to run without any issues on my Windows 7 64-bit machine.

Once every few months I've searched for that game but I couldn't find it anywhere! Most of the search results were about kids room decorations and design and that was frustrating, let me tell you. But now I managed to came across this very post and I can't describe how happy I am!!

Sorry to ask, but could you also send me a PM about where I can get this application? Thanks in advance.

That is really cool. This needs to be archived somewhere on some abandonware site!
