New nes 72-pin connector

Hello!

Recently I bought a NES system (my first) that has a new 72-pin connector. It plays the games fine but the games are so damn hard to get out! I have to take the console and pull it out really hard while wiggling it! I'm afraid that I'll break the games or the console! Also my skin is breaking from all the pulling.

Is this normal? How do I fix it? I tried to Google as much as I could but I didn't find any information on this.

Yes, new pin connectors are typically super tight.

A major part of the design flaw in the ZIF (zero insertion force) connectors are that they quickly became not tight enough to make connection across all 72 pins.

It'll loosen up a bit with continued usage.

Will it help if I put a NES game inside it and keep it there for a long period of time or do I have to keep abusing the connector by inserting and re-inserting a cart?

At a risk of bending them too wide, put a Gameshark in for a few seconds. It has a thicker connector that also goes in at an angle. Be careful this might kill the connector though.

I hate replacement pins because of the loss of the ZIF capability.

Sadly I don't have a Gameshark (supposing you mean Game Genie)...

Also does any company sell good replacement pins that work as the original NES connector?

kI went through 3 connectors on eBay that were junk before I bought one from here. My system works perfectly now.

Ive had multiple new pin connectors that just break, Ive found the best thing to do is find a nintendo with its original pin connector that works well. If you clean the pins and only use clean games it will last alot longer.

Well the main (and only i guess) problem with the aftermarket 72 pin connectors I got on eBay is they wore down way too quickly. I'm talking being too loose to play games after 40 or so NES games tested. The one they sold me actually works after 100+ games played on and off, so that's something.

Another problem I had with eBay connectors was they were way too tight on unlicensed & off shaped carts. I broken one just trying to pull out a copy of the gold cartridge "Big Nose" that really opened my eyes.

I would suggest refurbishing the original connector first, but if you were to buy one this is where I would get it as well. You should disable the lockout chip while you're in there as well.

Okay cheers everybody! I'll probably end up buying one from nintendorepairshop.com, but I'll try keeping a cartridge in the system for few days first.
