I'm wanting to start making reproduction cartridges, and, after some research, I've some questions:
I'd like to make an Earthbound cart, and looked for donors in http://www.nesreproductions.com/ , and MC Kids, which I have, is compatible, IF a battery mod is made. I've tried to look up info and tutorials, but found nothing. Of course I could get a compatible one, but NES carts in Brazil are quite expensive compared to US, and ebay shippings are too high.
So, what is this mod? Is it expensive or complicated to make? Is there any tutorial.
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!! :)

You should probably find a cartridge of a RPG or other battery equipped game, and use that for the reproduction. The battery there is for saving, not powered like a flash light. Was there a SNES McKids game? Youd want to get a SNES cartridge for Earthbound. Or do you mean the first Mother game? Its called Earthbound O to not confuse the two games.

Yea, totally forgot about the zero, it's really mother 1. Sorry

MC Kids lacks the assembly for a battery. You'd have to surface solder wires to the traces and then mount the battery to something. It's probably more work than it's worth. Just get a copy of Shadowgate. It's cheap and common, and will save you a million headaches.

Yes, it looks like it's the easiest solution.
I've been looking for EPROM Programmers, and found this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOP853-USB-Universal-Programmer-12-MHz-s-40-Pin-Socket-EPROM-MCU-GAL-PIC-PLCC-/180824682655?pt=UK_Computing_Other_Computing_Netwo rking&hash=item2a19fdb09f
Do you think it will do the job?
Thanks!

I wouldn't advise buying a cheapy eeprom burner. that doesn't even list the compatible chips. You should be spending at least $90 for a decent burner. Also, make sure you buy a eprom eraser.

I've found the list here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/top853-USB-universal-programmer-EPROM-MCU-GAL-PIC-/160378432470?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25574cabd6
And it's quite complicated to get an expensive EPROM here, 'cause it would be the price+shipping+60% of taxes in the overall cost, so, about U$200, so I'd take a gamble with an eprom who supposedly does the job.
