My girlfriend and I recently came into possession of a working N64 with quite a few working games, many of which I'd like to play over again like Banjo-Kazooie. I am running into a display issue that I see many people are reporting, the image is very blocky and unclear on a 1080p HDTV. If I am understanding the issue, it is because it is attempting to do a progressive image, which the n64 simply was not meant to do.
Not that I expect an old console to have a clear 1080p image mind you, but I am hoping there is a way around it to get a decent image on a HDTV as I do not have access to any tube televisions. The video will not even display on my 1080p 60 inch (only hear sound, nothing else), and after doing some reading I was told the best way to handle this would be to use a S-video cable through a DVD player (although if there is a better alternative to get the best image possible on either television I would be happy to hear it.) I have a 1080p Samsung 58 inch, and a 38 inch 1080p Element, and I was thinking that perhaps getting

would work. I would plug this into a Panasonic DVD player via this S-Video cable, then connect the DVD player to the 32 inch TV via AV cables. Would this correct the issue? If not, are there any better suggestions that don't involve buying an older tube TV? (Would like to set it up in the bedroom, and just don't have room). Thanks for your time!
