Great news.

Sega is currently developing a sequel to Gungrave. Yasuhiro Nightow of Trigun is back along with Kousuke Fujishima, the man behind Ah! My Goddess.

Wow I didn't know that site was popular..

It's a bastard child of Lunar-NET...which I used to post on like 2 years ago.

Wow, this is surprising considering how fast the original was tossed into clearance bins.

I found the original quite likable. It has cool art, fast loading, neat music, and the LOUDEST sound effects I've ever heard in a game.

However... I enjoyed it insomuch as I got my $18 worth. It was in not a worthy $50 purchase. The walk-into-the-room, press-the-fire-button-until-everyone-is-dead gameplay is pretty weak, really. As successful as the game is at drawing you into its unique world, there's not a whole lot to do once it gets you there. So I will not be in line for a full-priced sequel, but will patiently hold vigil at the bargain bin.

I agree. But, I think this is what Sega is trying to address (the replayability and short game length). They realize that the game had potential, and will try and do something more with it. I think the last game was not up to Sega's standards. And, the announcement comes as the game is about 20% complete, so they will spend their time working on it... I hope.

I'm in the middle of the first Gungrave right now. It seems that while it's not so hard to blast your way through, it's a good bit more difficult to blast through with enough style and technique to get A ranks. What I mean to say is that there is still plenty to do with the game once you've beaten the last boss. Like Rez. Or Gunvalkyrie. I look forward to a sequel.

Man, I could see myself turning into a Sega fanboy pretty easily.

Gunvalkyrie kicked my ass. That is one hard game! I played it at a friend's house (along with Panzer Dragoon Orta... sweet!) and I couldn't get past the second level. What's up with that? :o

Geez, 7800, Gungrave has to be one of the EASIEST games I've ever played. You hardly even have to move; just lock on to a target and jam on the X button.

Maybe you didn't know that you have a special weapon too (I think R1 fires it). You should be able to beat the 1st three bosses w/ one shot from that momma.

EDIT: Gee, you said Gunvalkyrie, not Gungrave, didn't ya? Let me apologize as soon as I clean this egg of my face.

EDIT 2: Egg OFF my face. Good grief...
