So a friend of mine owns a gaming store, he was sold a dead arcade cabinet on the cheap, turns out it was an original contra cab from 87 with the paperwork stlil in it. I thought that was so cool I couldn't let the cab just die even though that would have been the smart thing to do as it had cracks in spots and water damage in spots and definitely had seen better days. I took the cab home, took it apart down to the last panel, got the mold to go away, sanded everything as flat as it would go, and started over the best I could with what was left of a pretty beat-up cab that was almost 30 years old. After 2 months, about 400 bucks and some elbow grease I turned it into this little toy...

I think it's a good start, but an Arcade cabinet isn't an Arcade cabinet without a control panel.

Loosely fitting stock controllers ON TOP of the control panel is rather facepalm'ing. I suggest Sanwa JLF and OSBN-30 buttons.

Either finish it with a proper arcade cabinet with SNES controls (the 4021 in the SNES is backwards compatible with the NES, you just need to make an adapter for it to psychically connect)

I hate control panel style controls, HATE them. I want my regular controllers.

I think with the monitor being an LCD that doesn't fill up the entire screen space it looks kind of funny. Still it's better to use the old dead thing as a display that you will use rather than just a cabinet that can't be used for anything. I just have a hard time thinking of a regular console as something you would use an arcade cab for unless they were included among something that can play actual arcade games too.

Maybe you should fill in that empty screen area with a custom made wooden panel you can decorate with retro game art, but make it removable in case you want to upgrade to a bigger screen.

That monitor is nothing short of sacrilege.

This is a piece of crap. Seriously...what the hell is this thing?

So now every time you want to play NES/SNES you have to stand there like a complete ding dong staring at an ugly idiotic arrangement of trashy retro garbage.

Fix this crap...fix it now.

thank you.

But while I'm standing there, it provides you a chance to blow me, think of it that way.

Holy crap... this is the worst cab I have ever seen, are you really showing this off expecting people to say it looks great? Most ghetto arcade cab EVER! you spent 400$ on this?! plugging a nes on an lcd tv which you bolted on an arcade cab, doesnt make it an arcade cab! Sorry if I sound harsh, but its terrible.
