I found a non working genesis hi def graphics today, it was disgusting, yellowy, crusty and sold as is (read not working!). Well I bought it for 15$ and it came with the original genesis controller (the one with the red buttons and arrows, and I dont know why but these work better than any other genesis controller, the d-pad is super tight on these!). I opened it up, washed everyting in the sink with sunlight dish detergent, dusted the interior which had western dust balls in it with compressed air spray, and cleaned the cartridge connector with a microfiber cloth, alcool and a bank card. The power button did not move and was crusty, so I put some wd-40 inside and did the same with the earphone slider. I did the same with the controller and cleaned the pcb with alcool and a cotton swab and put wd-40 ion the outside of every button and the d-pad. I also put the reset button in a glass full of vinegar and oxiclean to make it white, it was brown and yellow. The reset button turned a little bit brighter, but was still fugly, so i sanded it very lightly until it became factory gray. So when I fired this bitch up, nothing happened. I switched the power supply with the one I already had and BOOM!, turns out I got myself a nice NON-TMSS hi-def graphics genesis! I shined everything with paper towels and armor all, and now I've got the best looking genesis since 1989! Just look at these pictures!

Here is a thread I made on the subject a while back http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?136118-Dead-game!-Did-you-fix-it&highlight=dead
I thought I did good till izarate came and blew me out of the water. LOL
Nice job, I love doing this kind of thing even though I seem to find less and less time for it each year.
*Edit* I guess I'll mention that top loader NES is still going strong. :D

Got myself an original Xbox for 20$. The guy said it had problems. So i tried it and the games were loading soooooo slow ! and sometimes the games would freeze !
I opened it up to see it was the dustiest thing I have ever seen !! I cleaned that dust off just to discover a blown cap on the motherboard. I changed it and changed the thermal paste under the heatsinks at the same time. I also cleaned the lens of the drive. And there you go !! I now have a perfectly working Xbox ! :)

I got a Game gear that needs this treatment badly... I bought it on a guess for 3 bucks at a yard sale and found out the terminals are crusty and lord knows what else is nasty on the inside (yet to get it split apart)
