F-Zero: Maximum Velocity beta cartridge?

i picked this up at a swapmeet recently because it seemed unusual to me. this game is normally rated E, but this one i found is rated RP. i dont think its a demo cartridge, mainly because you can save and it doesnt say "NOT FOR RESALE" anywhere on the cartridge (possibly beta or E3 cartridge?). havent been able to find any information on it or any other carts that look like it. can anyone help me out?

ahhh i do see a little bit of the NFR label now. strange that it has a save function, seeing as it's a demo game. well one of them went on ebay recently for $39.99, so i guess i did pretty good, considering i only paid 3 bucks for it.
