"SUPER MARIO BROS Special X1 for NES is a altered version of the Super Mario Bros. Special for NES hack which was created by Karatorian. It is altered to more closely resemble the X1 version of Super Mario Bros. Special. The changes found in the hack include:

Title screen more closely resembles the X1 game.
World selection by pressing B.
Altered graphics such as dithering and a altered pallette.
The pipe entering cutscene at the beginning of some levels such as World 1-2 and 2-2 is done manually.
Ending message. A farewell message to Hudson Soft which closed down in 2012.

Note that this is based on the 1.0~rc1 hack of Super Mario Bros. Special for NES and will not contain any features of future versions should future versions be released.

The readme is in S-JIS format."

I wanna see if I can get this put into a cart. I've been wanting to play it forever now. I wish somebody would romhack Hudson's version of Mario bros, too.

I played the original hack on my powerpak and beat it first try, but I haven't played this version yet although I have seen it on romhacking before and downloaded it. Talk about procrastination.

Any way to convert to play on a GBA flash card?

If you look on the romhacking.net site there are instructions for how to modify the rom.

While I don't have much experience with it myself, I know there are nes emulators for the Gba flashcarts. If you just get one of those and load the modified rom on your flashcart, it should work.

I'm new to this. Looked around on the site and couldn't figure out what to do. Will appreciate any help.

PocketNES would probably work.
