Hi everybody! So my buddy (Shadowkn55 on these forums) has come up with a wonderful new design for cartridge shells to replace our nasty, beat-up MVS shells. He's got a kickstarter going that explains the project in detail:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/113891498/omega-neo-geo-mvs-replacement-cartridge-shells

Let me tell you that I've seen the finished product first hand and they are GORGEOUS. The labels are pristine, glossy, and sport an overall professional and classy appearance. In addition, the shell is designed so you don't have to remove or risk damaging the labels when you open them. Several different colors of carts are going to be available as well.

The cart shells will fit in any CMVS or 1, 2, 4, or 6-slot MVS board without issue, and fit snugly in a shockbox as well.

Backers can donate in 3 tiers. Donations of $135 or over get 10 carts and labels of your choice.

Overall, I think these shells are going be a solid, affordable way to make your MVS collection more showable and overall aesthetically pleasing. If you have any questions, you can post to this thread or PM me. You can also contact Shadowkn55 directly via the Kickstarter link above.

Game on, everybody!

So whenever these come out, if I get a consolized MVS and get MVS games, one of these shells and one of those customized shockboxes (which I think are about $20 each) for each one, after shipping all that stuff I wonder just how much money I'm saving over AES games...

I see twinkle star sprites going for $1000 on eBay for the aes. I paid $200 for mvs cart. Your cheapest aes game will run you at least $300. Trust me, it's a huge difference.

There are several AES games less than $300, I think most AES carts are between $100-200.

I payed $225 for pulstar mvs--aes cart runs up to $1000. Want aero fighters 3 for the aes? One sold for $30,000...and it was fake. Metal slug for aes is running in the $1000 range these days too.

Im sure the common, lackluster aes games like baseball stars professional and fatal fury run fairly cheap, but the more interesting games like viewpoint and mark of the wolves can command outrageous prices. And there are many mvs games that have no aes version, like neo mr do. That's just my experience.

Yes, consolized mvs machines are pricey, but I feel like you save in the long run with the carts. Just my opinion...

That's just the common stuff. Trying looking for anything not KoF. Anything that is highly sought after is going to run you $500+. Even the most expensive MVS cart doesn't cost that much. As of late, none of the AES Metal Slug titles are valued under $500. The entire library (slugs 1-5) on MVS will run you half that. And there is always the possibility of a fake/conversion on AES. It's also double dangerous to even verify the authenticity of one. With the quality of fakes these days, you run the risk of potentially damaging the plastic or the label of a real cart when trying to open the snap-together case to check the boards.

I know the price of AES games, I know there are $1000+ games, I have an MVS and an AES and I buy games for both. (Though I'm leaning towards AES these days) When comparing the price of AES vs MVS factoring the price of a box and a shell, I'm talking about the common stuff.
