JVC X'Eye power supply?

edit: update: Bought a nice looking X'Eye that lacks the power supply. Some googling tells me I'm in a bit of a spot.

Anyone know of a good equivalent? It's 9.5v at 1.5a

I've found some things that seem like they might work, but I don't know a whole lot about this stuff.

then this guy has the model number in the auction title, but says "equivalent" in caps...is that a distinction that matters or will this do it?

My other option is a PSone adapter, but it's 7.5v and 2.0a. This guy says that could be trouble:

Not prone to breaking really. There is of course that chance that cap could go bad as they are now getting pretty old. Overall though, these units seem to hold up pretty well. Cool too! They are a graphic upgrade if you get the one with composite video or S video. The X-eye will also likely go up in value as time goes on. Best of luck!

RGB is the best quality. Most units allow that. A high end option not often used in USA.

All units have composite.
RF uses an adapter.

S-video was planned in its design, but never factory installed.

Go to your local Radio Shack with the console so they can test different tips that fit the x eye and they will find an equivalent for voltage.

I made an adapter for mine using the Canon adapter in your Amazon link. I swapped out the tip with one from a broken Genesis Model 2 adapter and if I remember correctly, I had to swap the polarity. I lucked out, though, and found my adapter for $2 at a flea market.

That might be the cheapest option if radio shack doesn't have one.

I've bought a sega trio adapter from him and he was very pleasant to shop from.
You might want to give him a look.

It'll power on and work, but it's 7.5v and 2.0a, so there's still a risk. and this thing is too awesome to take a risk. :)

I did a little googling and I think you are right, probably not 100% safe, sorry for the bad info.
I had a xeye for about 5 or so years and used it on and off with the psone adapter, no problems so maybe I was lucky?

I think it could be fine, it's just a bit of a gamble. In fact, I'm pretty sure I used the Genesis 2 adapter as well when I had an X'Eye years ago...whatever it was, it wasn't the right adapter and nothing really went terribly wrong.

Its okay if you only play cartridge games, but you will fuck up the cd part in the long run, its not strong enough.

I've dealt with him too and very helpful. Bought a CDX AC adapter and it has been working great, no problems at all.

The PSOne PSU will work perfectly fine, the system steps down the incoming voltage to 5V so the voltage difference isn't critical.
