I just got a yellow Zipper brand controller for the original Nintendo, which is a cool one to have, but is having an issue with it doing random moves when I don't want it to, and also mostly pauses at random as well. I just tried cleaning it, which seemed to help a little bit, but it still does the weird things it's been doing, and mainly pauses when I move it, or shake the control. Since I tried thoroughly cleaning the controller, any ideas as to what else I can do to get it fully working, and not do those annoying random commands when I don't want it to? Thanks.

I HATE HATE HATE it when my zipper randomly pauses and I wind up pissing my pants... this usually happens when i am drunk....
This SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!
To avoid such issues do as I did.... I switched (in the late 80's) to button flies cause you can always rip dem babies open...

I took it apart, and cleaned all of the buttons, and contacts with cleaning solution from an N.E.S. cleaning kit I have, and made sure everything was lined up correctly. Nothing seemed obvious when I did so, but still had the same annoying issue with the control.

There could be damaged wire, or a short on the traces, or some components on the board could be faulty. Cheap 3rd party controllers are usually junk not worth saving.

Thanks for letting me know, and I'd hate to toss it, as it is a good controller. It does seem like the control is usually okay as long as I hold it perfectly still when I'm using it(which is much easier said than done), but will often go all out of whack, if I move it, and does it's random stuff, and makes the games I'm using it with unplayable as a result. Any ideas as to why that might be the case?

Maybe the rubber pads that are underneath the buttons/next to the board are worn out and touching the board when the buttons are unpressed? I would guess this if you are getting inputs which you dont want.
I recently took apart 2 snes controllers, 1 duo controller and 3 nes controllers that had buttons that diddnt work. I cleaned the board with rub alc, and they all resumed working perfectly. I noticed that with some of the nintendo controllers the rubber pads were torn or really worn down.
Might be able to swap the pads from a regular nes controller if they are the same size.

Yeah, that sounds like an issue with the wiring in the cable from the controller to the system. If you can isolate where the cable is kinked you might be able to cut the bad part out and and rewire it to the pad.

Could also be a bad connection at the port. I had similar symptoms with my official NES controller that was remedied by scraping oxidation off the pins.

I've owned a grey zipper controller from Beeshu since the 80s and It's never acted strangely. It's really a decent quality controller that I've cherished throughout the years. I think the aforementioned theories of oxidation or old wiring may be what's wrong.
