I have read somewhere in another thread that you need a gamecube scart cable to use with an ntsc snes console. I bought this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/LOGIC-3-Quality-Gold-Scart-with-AV-For-GAMECUBE-New?item=200817901761&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3D LVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7339753686307096567#ht_192 0wt_1186
I can hear the sound through the scart connection, but no video. Is the cable broken or I bought the wrong cable? Its not working with my gamecube either, only audio.

That could be a composite scart cable?

The description says it has an optional av block, so I thought they did this so you can use the cable on both a regular composite connection or scart. I do hear the sound coming through the scart cable, just no video. I didnt try the regular composite.

It depends on the cable. scart was built for multiple purpose.

For the US Super Nintendo you just need to make sure you don't get a PAL SCART cable from Europe. They won't work right. You need to get an NTSC SCART cable from Japan. At least that's what I've heard. I was going to go with SCART, but after seeing the difference between that and S-Video on the SNES I just decided to go with the S-Video instead.

Japanese cable would need an adapter.
Nintendo's kiosk American SNES RGB cables are rare, and I don't know how they're wired. Just heard about those a few months ago.

Good point, I forgot that.
