View Full Version : MK Series of Arcades
So what do you guys think of MK4 the arcade? Is it worth buying and having in a collection. I already have MK2 and I want MK1. If I find MK3 cheap, Ill buy it, but I'm not sure if I want MK4. I found it pretty cheap. It's about 300 on Craigslist, but I don't know if it's worth the buy. I usually buy arcades that I remember fondly and I didn't really play this one much when I was younger. However, I want to know if people like it. I want to have arcades that people enjoy. Would you add it to your collection?

I wouldn't buy it. They lost me when the went 3D. All of the best fighting games are 2D.

Sure if you want to invest in one, go for it if you want to complete the arcade series. Just remember with MK3 it also pays to get the UMK3 board as I know it's not a dedicated cabinet, or just skip MK3 and try and hunt down a UMK 3 board itself as some of the combos are far better balanced than MK3 (100% combos are still possible, but not easy to pull off, plus the extra characters MK3 lacked).
MK4's problem I found is everyone seems to have a simple similar combo, and the AI at times always felt a tad braindead to me. First time I played the damned thing I got through on a credit, something I could not do on any other MK game in arcades till I practiced enough.
