We all know the rumors are false, but what could make them seem true? yoshimansw on YouTube points them out nicely, but he gets a lot of undeserved hate because he's like 12 or 13. Here are some points (add to this list)

- There's Yoshi. There's Mario. There's Luigi. There's Wario. And now....
- Have a SM64DS instruction booklet? Look for the purple rabbit.
- On the title screen, we see red, green, yellow, and purple.
There are a dozen more reasons that I can't think of right now. Personally I only want Waluigi because he's purple (the color of Twilight Sparkle)

You could always rom hack him into the game. Should be easy for DS if they already have New Super Mario Bros. hacks.

I assume you are yoshimansw and registered to promote your video.

You forgot the link.

What exactly are you claiming? Is it that Waluigi is a secret unplayable character in SM64DS, or that maybe he was originally planned to be a playable character but scrapped late in development? If it's the former, I'm pretty sure someone would have discovered that by now. If the latter, maybe, but I'd definitely need more evidence than what you've presented.

Waluigi is quite possibly the worst Mario series character EVER. In addition to that, the name is just retarded. I know Mario=Wario. Kinda dumb, but passable. Luigi=Waluigi. They just added wa to Luigi, fucking lame. Waigi might have been better.

Also, I'm not one for bronies, but there's a whole thread for you guys in the Off Topic section of the forums. Enjoy.

This rumor is also a lame rip off of the original Luigi in Super Mario 64 rumor. It's sad that a creative original rumor wasn't thought of, not just a rehash of something from years past.

Waluigi is when I lost a little respect for Nintendo, it seemed like they were going the Sonic route with a whole cast of unimaginative forgettable useless characters.

Oh c'mon, Waluigi is AWESOME in his lameness. I'd love to see a Super Wario Bros. parody game starring Wario and Waluigi, poking fun at the conventions and cliches of Mario games.

Yeah, I also like Waluigi because of his crappiness, which I think is what Nintendo was going for with the character in the first place. :P

As for the name stuff, it makes a lot more sense in Japan. The whole Mario/Wario thing is pretty clever because not only does it have the whole bizarro thing going on with the "M" flipped upside down, but it also is a reference to the Japanese word "warui", which means "bad/evil". In the case of Waluigi, you obviously can't flip "L" upside down and get a different letter, but it works even better than "Wario" in terms of the "warui" pun. If you consider that Japanese lacks an "L" sound and that it would be pronounced as an "R", "Waluigi" would be pronounced more like "Waruigi", which contains "warui" in its entirety.

When did Dick Dastardly change his name to Waluigi and why did he leave Muttley?

Thank you for posting this, it saved me the time of writing up what would be pretty much say the exact same thing :)

While I will agree Waluigi is a terrible name, and it slightly annoys me that he has an upside down L on his hat, I don't mind the character. Playing Mario Part with 2 or three people? Set the computer as Waluigi an let the bitching commence. Also he's arguably the best pitcher in Mario baseball, for what that matters. He's almost annoying in a good way.
