I bought costume quest complete on Oct/24/2012 with 2 other games. My son went to play it today and it was only the demo and I had to pay full price for it again. I called Sony and the dude at the other end said they have no idea why it happened, and may issue a refund or give me access to download it again. I just received an email saying that my refund is denied and all sales are final. Which is total BS.The dlc for the game is there and the 2 other games are there just not costume quest or the unlock key.
Anyone else have problems like that? I have almost 1200 dlc and games and items on my account so I'm not sure if more have been messed up.

Did it disappear from your account or is it just not on your harddrive? If it accepted the code once it should be downloadable again from the my downloads screen in the psn store. If its not there then something got messed up. Most psn purchase games come with the demo and the unlock key, so maybe you just downloaded the demo and not the unlock key? If its not still on your account that is weird.
edit - sorry I diddnt see that you looked in you account and its not there. Its never happened to me though, Ive downloaded tons of stuff from my brothers account that was purchased a few years back. Multiple times too.
The psn is weird though, my brother had a playstation plus subscription years ago and got the sam and max games for free. He hasnt had the subscription for awhile and I was able to go in and download all 5 games for free. I was kinda surprised because I thought they take away access to the free stuff once you no longer have the subscription.

Those free episodes were made free by publisher request, wasn't a Sony decision. Any freebies available via PSN+ at publisher request remain yours even if your PSN+ subscription has expired. Additionally, you can redownload any game you've downloaded from PSN+ without a subscription, you just can't play them.

This thread is a good example of why I'm scared to buy digital games.

Did you get Costume Quest while you had a Playstation PLUS subscription?
Were you ever a PLUS member?
If so that game's transition from a free PLUS game back to a full retail game -even if you purchased it- may have something to do with what you are experiencing. Something may have glitched out in their system.
Also, did Costume Quest change publishers? Was it an EA distributed game that's now a Double Fine self-published game? That happened to me when the publishing rights changed hands for the Mini version of Angry Birds, though the original download from the original publisher WAS in my purchase history list under my profile management tools and I could re-download it there even though the option to buy it at full price was what I saw on the PSN store.
Check your purchase history list (not download list) on your profile management tools.

Yep, I checked the purchase history list and there is a transaction number with the three games I purchased. It was costume quest complete along with wonderboy4 and Sega rally, those two game are still in my download history along with the dlc for costume quest just not the game with the unlock key. I've always been a PSN+ subscriber and it is good till August/2014. So having and losing I don't think would cause an issue. Im thinking maybe the updates they do to the store. I'm going to call them back again because I don't think its right and its kinda like stealing my money. Its something on their end and wouldn't be on mine.

Yeah, that makes more sense. I think its interesting though, that they would give away all 5 episodes and later charge 20$ for the package.
Was Secret of Monkey Island also free to anyone without a playstation plus subscription? Thats another my brother got for free and I downloaded much later and have played through. Currently its 10$ to download.

It makes me glad the digital games I bought are ones that came out long before they started Playstation Plus and even had expiration dates on games.

So I called them back and the explanation they gave me was because I utilized the game I'm not entitled to my money back. I told the guy i would think twice or stop all together about buying games if this is the way its going to be. The he game is on my games list to play but there is no history of me downloading it at all. After talking with the guy for a bit, he put a request in again for a refund I told him that "I don't want a refund I would like it put on my download list". I asked about switching publishers and he said that it shouldn't effect it, because I also had a similar problem with angry birds mini where it doesn't show I purchased it but it was on my download list

Yeah, there's got to be an answer and Sony should have some kind of evidence that you previously had access to the full version of the game. Nothing should cause a disconnect from PSN account and purchased content.

You gotta be careful when dealing with the help line, though. If the give you a refund, even if you didn't ask for one, you'll probably have your account suspended until you return the funds. This sounds like crap, I know, but I'll be damned if there aren't an amazing number of stories about exactly that happening.

Um, what?
They'll issue you a refund, and then suspend your account and ask for the money back?
That makes no sense.

It's happened before, stupidly enough. There used to be a huge topic about it over on PS3Trophies. It seemed like a situation of two heads not knowing what the other one was doing.

That sounds weird. How exactly would one "return" money that was refunded? Do they mean that they gave the user PSN credit enough for that specific title with the expectations that the credit would be used on that title?

Something like that. In all the cases I read, the money was returned in the form of PSN funds. Apparently issuing a refund doesn't actually deactivate the game from the account, so the user basically got a free game. Someone PSN side notices this, locks the account and says they owe the difference for the game.

Okay, I'm 99 point 99 percent sure that this has to do with the publisher.
Today Bethesda Softworks has released the classic PC version of Wolfenstein 3D on the PSN for $4.99.
The game was PREVIOUSLY released by Activision when they had the rights, and I had purchased and downloaded it.
The game is still in my download list yet I have the option to buy it for $4.99 in the store.
I see that Costume Quest is published by THQ, something may have happened with that game when THQ did a fire-sale on their properties that caused the game to be un-purchased on your account.

But you can still play the downloaded original version you bought without paying anything additional correct?

Correct, I can. I go to my download list, find it there and re-download it.
However, that doesn't change the fact that the newly published version of the same game allows me to pay cash money again.
