I FINALLY found a pair of official component cables for my original Xbox. Kind of a weird story here though: bought it cheap at a thrift store, took it to a game shop to test out, it was fine but the lens needed cleaning, and I never got around to buying video cables for it 'till now. Last it was tested was with a regular AV cable. Anyway, this component cable is in wonderful shape but the video only comes in with a heavy green tint. And there are these vertical looking artifacts running through the picture. It otherwise functions as normal. I've checked the connections, the TV is fine, and I'm at a loss as to what could be wrong. :/

Nothing looks dirty and as I said before the picture came in fine when it was tested almost a year ago with AV cables.

Sounds like the box or cable is damaged. One of the signals likely isn't getting through.

Did some checking, and the colored "caps" on each end of the cable unscrew so the inside of the end can be seen. There are two soldered points on each, and the red one is MISSING SOLDER on one of em. I did a test with my Wii's component cables and plugged in all but the red video cable, which is the one missing the solder on the Xbox cable. Does the EXACT same thing. Red's signal isn't coming through.

Looks like I got another solder job besides the Genesis region mod I've been planning! This looks like a simple fix. I hope.
