Really cool documentary, although it's a shame that the quality of the videos is so poor. I had to crank my volume to the max on both my PC and Youtube and it was still way too quiet, and the audio is horribly out of sync with the video in the second part.

Anyway, it's really interesting to have a look at their inner workings and the general state of the industry back then, although it's hard to not watch it with an impending sense of doom knowing how history turned out. Even in the video, they touched upon the beginning of the decline, but with all the huge success that came so fast, I'm sure none of these people had any idea that they'd be doing mass layoffs in only a year and that they, and plenty of those other companies named, would be completely out of business in just a couple years or so.

Awesome video! It really is exciting to see behind the scenes of a hot game company as they make history. I agree that it is a little bit sad knowing that the crash is coming and so many of their dreams, and the dreams of countless other people/companies, is about to go off a cliff. Still, good on them for getting out there and giving it a shot and leaving so many people with some great memories and games we still play and talk about today.

I agree. You knew you were going to be playing a good game when putting in a shiny Imagic cart.

Atlantis was a favourite, so was Riddle of the Sphinx. Cosmic Ark, Demon Attack, even Trick Shot are all classics.

Oh man, that was fascinating. Thanks so much for posting this! I too felt the sad irony of these employees' wide-eyed enthusiasm, unaware of the cataclysm that awaits them the following year. Imagic made some great games, no doubt about it.

BTW, I loved the cartridge assembly line music! And you can never go wrong with a little Buckner & Garcia.

Imagic didn't really release any duffs (maybe later after the crash for their range of computer software)

Very interesting when they were talking about piracy issues back then.

Yeah that was real easy piracy back then, when games could come on tape or diskette. Not this phantom piracy Microsoft is paranoid about.

Imagic had some amazing games. Demon Attack is still one I always go back to.
