Got Strider 2 for PSX from ebay under $30 (complete and in good shape). What can I expect from this rare(?) title?

Game still considered a R2?

I LOVE Strider 2! The mix of 2D sprites and 3D environments work really well (I think), and it's enormously fun. But it is actually hard to die in this game, way too easy - but it's a hell of a ride!
Oh, nearly forgot, and it also comes with the original arcade game!

good game, not as cool as the original.

It's a solid game. I have the arcade pcb and the home port is a 100% perfect copy. Makes sense because the capcom zn-2 board is just a jamma PlayStation.

Isn't it crazy easy because you have infinite continues, and restart from the same place you died?

It's easy if you credit feed, try doing it in 1 continue and see how far you get. ;)

Also the Strider on the 2 pack seems IMO better than the Strider on CCC2 PS2/X-Box. There's fewer music tracks on the CCC 2 pack than there is on the PS1 pack, maybe both games worked off different rom revisions from the arcade version (though I think the Strider 1 isn't emulated on PS1, but ported). I believe one of the arcade revisions had fewer music tracks than the other.

Edit: I also believe the Genesis Strider to be based on Revision 2, not sure which version the MD one is based up on as I've not played the Japanese versions of Strider extensively on MAME. Also unsure of which rev the X68K one is based upon.

I have a strider 1 pcb that has the same music as the ps2 version, which blows! It just plays the level one theme one levels 3 and 5. So yeah, there's a legit revision with botched music.

Beat the entire game with Strider Hiryu and you get to play as Strider Hien.

Dang i forgot Strider was on the Capcom collections. Still consider the game rare?

Strider 2 has some slowdown compared to the arcade release, but it should still be playable.

Arrived today. Enjoying it, seems I have one the early copies with the game titles switched on the discs.

All of the US print run has switched discs - possibly true of the PAL release, I don't remember.
