Hello, all.
Just dropping in to let everyone know that Commander Keen in Keen Dreams (classic PC game for MS-DOS) is now available for Android enabled devices, under official license. We adapted the game directly from the original source code, and the sound effects were digitally recorded from the YM3812 chip of the Ad Lib sound card to ensure they were perfectly preserved. The game can be played using the touch screen or a gamepad.
Check it out at Google Play...

Im glad they didn't mess with the games and "HD" them up. Nothing like the originals-I'll buy that for a dollar!

Please, can you tell us more about that? What exactly happened there? How did you find these folks? Last I heard Softdisk was reduced to a couple of servers running inside a cage. Also, do you have any concerns about how Bethesda might try to do something, since they own id software?
Do you think you might also be able to re-release George Broussard's ScubaVenture? (Not a great game, that one, but a neat piece of history.)

Find it kinda weird that of all the Commander Keen games, the one that gets a modern re-release is the one that was often considered the black sheep of the series (not counting the GBC installment).
... although personally, I thought Keen Dreams was a good game, but I'm just saying...
I hope we get Aliens Ate My Babysitter sometime.

Find it kinda weird that of all the Commander Keen games, the one that gets a modern re-release is the one that was often considered the black sheep of the series (not counting the GBC installment). There's an open-source replacement engine for Keen 1-3 (http://clonekeen.sourceforge.net/), actually. It seems much progress has been made on something for 4-6 (http://clonekeenplus.sourceforge.net/), as well. I don't know if anyone's tried to port any of them to Android, but it sure seems feasible.
Keen 1-5 are, of course, legally obtained very cheaply through Steam.
I hope we get Aliens Ate My Babysitter sometime.Y'know, when I saw the news (http://ca.ign.com/articles/2013/05/23/atari-auctioning-off-game-assets-in-july) that Atari (nee Infogrames) was auctioning off some of its properties, it occurred to me that Keen might see the light of day again. Maybe if they strike a deal with Bethesda for something else?
