Which is More Tolerable? Rampage: Total Destruction on the Wii or Gamecube?

My five year old son really likes Rampage ala 8-bits- the Sega Master System version in particular- so I wanted to grab a new rendition of the game for us to play together on the Wii/Gamecube. Is there any reason to go with the Wii's version over the Gamecube? They seem very similar and I would personally have liked to avoid motion controls or having to use the nunchuck, but if someone swears that their kid loves the Wii version I might be persuaded to endure even further torturous monotony at the hands of Rampage for my boy's sake.

I have played the Wii version and it is a waggle fest. I do not remember if it had the option to use a Gamecube controller though. I would get the Gamecube one because the motion controls were awful.

Its a blast on GC myself and a buddy played it over good. I skipped out on the Wii version because I heard the controls are not very responsive.
