View Full Version : Ebay has been so weird lately

This guy won a game from us, and instead of emailing questions or comments he calls us. On the phone. Long distance. He said it's free for him. I think it's strange, for ebay I prefer some level of anonymity. It's like people that buy stuff at my work knowing my home phone.
???

Then the new trend for buyers remorse is to let it sit at the post office until they send it back, claim you didn't get it, delivery confirmation will say undelivered, and get a FULL refund! This has happened twice now.

And I'm so mad, we now have a negative because of a scammer. This guy bought 2 expensive Disney pieces. About $200 total. We charged $20 for shipping, but because they were so large we had to ship individually so we ate about $15 in shipping costs. Oh well, we stand by our word.
The guy says it arrives broken. I am VERY surprised, because these things are double packed first in original box which is surrouned by foam, then I pack around it in layers of bubble wrap and packing peanuts. The picture he sent (which is of the piece loose out of box) looks like it fell off a shelf or something.
For one thing he has a lot of negs and neutrals from people because he's a powerseller and uses a line "it fell off the truck and broke so sorry" to people. In one of his negs he actually says "bidder refused to file insurance form, bad apple on ebay".
So I try and get him to file the insurance we paid for. No response other then "give me a full refund now". He appeals to paypal, and it sits there for a month. I try multiple times to get him to file insurance. No response.
THEN he does a credit card chargeback!! They give him ALL his money back, and that's it!
Then when I leave him negative, he leaves one back saying what a nasty seller I am!
I am POSITIVE he had a piece that was broken, bought mine to replace it, knew the post office wouldn't give him a refund because I packed to well, and chargedback. Dirty dirty scammer, and there isn't anything I can do about it.
Well except for watch out for him to put something up for sale, or outbid him on things he wants just for the sake of making him pay a little more.
Seriously, this guy is some of the lowest of the low I have ever seen on ebay, and there have been some contestents.

Whats pissing me off are sellers who are charging tax and just keeping it. I've talked to a few this weekend and they all laugh at it.

Report them to the IRS and see if they get the joke too.

I know exactly how you feel. After approx. 600 transactions I'm currently dealing with my first scammer. I sold him an item, he got it (even left positive feedback), and now he's trying to scam me with a PayPal chargeback claiming he never got it. What sucks is that there was no delivery confirmation on it (which PayPal requires the seller to have to dispute a chargeback), since he chose the cheaper Free Ship w/BIN option which includes media mail only. I'm fighting it with everything I have, but it looks like I'll have to make delivery confirmation standard on every future auction I run. :(

I still haven't gotten my first negative yet, but this experience has really soured me on online selling.

I had something similar. I sold a figurine for a friend of mine. Packed it well, shipped it off, no problems. About a month later I get a neutral feedback stating that it "arrived broken and no response from seller." Um, I never got any kind of e-mails stating it was broken. If it did indeed arrive broken I'd be happy to give a refund (it was only a $5 item) even though it was packed pretty well, but dammit, don't lie and say I ignored you when you never sent me an e-mail!

Great. Makes me feel good placing my first auction this week.

And I gotta say to Tritoch, 600 sales and just one scam actually sounds like a great track record. Just the one burn has you this bummed out? :/
