I'm about to change my batteries in my games. I have a ton to do. I have seen it done many times online and it seems easy enough. I have made a few arcade sticks in the past using ps2 controllers so I think I can do it. My question is since I have a lot towhat tools are best? I have a soldering iron but not sure if the wattage is low enough. Also a good de soldering pump, what type of solder you use, and good set of cheap helping hands. I want this to be as smooth as possible as I have about 100 games to do.

Finally does anyone use flux? I never see it used in tutorials but it seems like it would make life easier.

Amazon links to good tools and solder would be perfect since I have amazon credit and prime.

I tried to link the cheapest stuff that would do a good job on changing those batteries.

When your doing this you actually want a high watt iron because you we be dealing with heavy ground planes, solder pads and large solder joints.

This is how I would do these with that setup. (Yes there are probably dozens of other ways also :) )

Hit the backs with the flux pen, this will help transfer heat and keep the solder wet.
Heat one side of the battery tab with the iron and then use the soldapult to remove the solder. Rinse and repeat 4 times.
If the battery can't be removed because there is still solder there you can try to clean it up with braid or snip the battery off and reheat the tab an pull it out with tweezers.
Lay a coffee filter soaked with flux cleaner or alcohol over the pads and scrub with a toothbrush to clean up all the old flux.
Solder in new batteries.
Drink a few beers.

I knew you didn't need battery holders or tabs.

I almost posted some links until I noticed that you said only amazon. ;) The links posted should work nicely, do you have the screwdrivers?

Try Zoozen, but it doesn't have the virtual boy, super NES, or Nintendo Cartridge Screwdrivers:

Or Shinobii, but the Nintendo Screwdrivers are too round to fit small holes and too short to reach inside deep holes like VB, but the Nintendo Screwdrivers are there

For the cream of the Crop use, Newelectronx Screw-Driver for Nintendo consoles which includes everything of the first suggestions, but more with guaranteed trusted retro gamers quality
