Games play 2/3 of the time. The connector is in pretty bad shape. Anyone ever use Deoxit 5? Does it work better than rubbing alcohol. Also, my restart button only works half the time I guess there is dirt in there. Its solder to the main board and I guess I wont be able to buy a replacement.

try a small amount of wd40 on a q-tip or use unrust. again, i would only apply a small amount to knock off the rusted areas.
if you can disassemble it and get in there i would use a small piece of sand paper to scrub off the rust.

Got the rust off still just blank screen. I also got in another batch of snes and ran across another one with no rust doing th same thing. I have no idea what is going on. Can bad caps cause this? Can't really get a good test of the caps with just a digital multimeter so I was thinking about ordering a cap kit or something.

Do you actually clean the connectors in your consoles before testing them? There are cleaning kits available made to clean cartridge slots.

For the one that was rusted, I would just say to heck with it and use an emery board. For the one with no rust I would try cleaning the slot really good. To do this take a clean game and repeatedly insert and remove it, stopping periodically to clean the game.

I sand the slots with fine sand paper, compress air then use rubbing alcohol and a credit card.

Someone told me that bending the pins upwards to make them connect better can help but I dunno

I am having the same problem this guy is having

I also disabled the lock out chip.

Possibly try a fiber glass pen to clean the contacts. You can usually find them at Radio Shack for a few bucks. I've used them on carts before with great results and they may be fine enough to get into the slot of the pin connector too.

Bought some today. Says needs to be rinse off? Do you just go back over it with a damp rag?
