Hey all! I just picked up a pretty large lot of Sega CD games. Most of these games have a light amount of marking underneath and test fine. I understand that the Sega CD can have issues with game disks that have just the slightest amount of damage, which sucks. My main concern is that a few of these games have a minor amount of "chipping" on the printing of the disk; if you hold up the disk towards the light, you can see light shinning through. They test just fine... I guess what I'm asking, is this lost data that will cause issues at some point during the play-though? Something I should be concerned about when reselling?

I can try to post a picture, but I'm not sure my camera would capture any of said damage.

Thanks!

Are these loose? Were they in one of those CD wallets? What you're seeing is the silkscreen on the face of the disc coming off. The silk screen contains no data, but it is a reflective coating that bounces the laser back to be read. So the data is still there, but it's not going to be relayed back to the system in those spots. I've seen that happen a lot with music CDs. The result is skipping audio. What it will cause during gameplay, I'm not sure. It could range from a quick glitch to a full on crash.

Most of the games came CIB, some in generic jewel cases.

Well I'm trying to make my best judgment on these. I've tested all of them and only a few had noticeable issues right at startup; one of which is Lawnmower Man (which pisses me off).
