View Full Version : Hard to find Wii titles

I'm looking into creating a list of HTF (possibly "rare") NTSC Wii titles as well as just ones that are in-demand. Especially with the Wii being phased out slowly, I think it's helpful for those who want to nab some of these before they inflate in price artificially (of course many already have). I kinda want to do two lists here, because some titles are relatively easy to find but are priced pretty much due to demand. Others are just hard to find or perceived to be hard to find. Any input is welcome - that's the point of posting this up here. I also created a "TO CONSIDER" category for titles that seem to fall just outside, but could be considered later...

RARE/HARD-TO-FIND
El Chavo
F1 2009
Fritz Chess
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Gold Remote Bundle)
Madden NFL 09 Pink Edition (aka Deanna Favre Hope Foundation Ed.)
My Horse & Me: Riding for Gold
One Piece: Unlimited Adventure
Rooms: The Main Building (Demo Disc)

IN-DEMAND
Dokapon Kingdom
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus
Kirby's Return to Dreamland
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Super Mario All-Stars
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 ("The Masters")
Walk It Out
Xenoblade Chronicles

TO CONSIDER
Arc Rise Fantasia
Exerbeat
Fragile Dreams
Godzilla Unleashed
Hasbro Family Game Night Fun Pack
Ju-On: The Grudge
Klonoa
MLB 2K12
Phantom Brave: We Meet Again
Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection
PokePark 2: Wonders Beyond
Pony Friends 2
Scarface: The World is Yours
The Calling
The Oregon Trail
WWE 13

PROBABLY NOT RARE (BUT OFTEN MENTIONED AS RARE)
A Boy and His Blob
Kororinpa: Marble Mania
The Last Story

RUMORED/UNKNOWN RELEASES
Sudoku Ball
Wii Sports in a regular NTSC White Wii case (not Nintendo Selects and not custom printed)

The irony of The Rain whatever project to bring Xenoblade over to America is now no one can afford to play the game and thus can not play it.

Fuck all these $100 plus prices on ebay. Why the hell cant they print out more copies and price it at $40 and make all those greedy bastards weep?

Can't say I don't disagree. Funny thing is I sold my copy when I was done with it - got about what I paid for it ($58). I guess I missed the latest in-demand bump. It's games like that that'll be hard to ever pick up for $10-15 used, moreso than a simple rare/low-run title where some segment of the gaming populace is unaware of its scarcity.

I had 14 sealed copies of xenoblade I sold before it went out of print.. I feel like crap :C

Nintendo is just stupid. Atlus would reprint the hell out of SMT3 if it was in demand like this. Oh wait, they did. Three times! I thought I'd be able to wait and purchase it but the Gamestop exclusive bs and it was too late when I realized it was getting difficult to find. The only copy I could have got was on base and didn't want to make someone go out of there way to get it for me again, so I just passed on it.

They prob going to do a remake for another console. Honestly that game being on the wii ruined it anyway.

Just an aside - Does anyone have any clue about the exact number of NTSC Wii retail releases there was? I'm not even sure there is a good estimate out there, seeing as how much shovelware stuff could easily go unnoticed even if you counted everything on Nintendo.com, Amazon or whatever...

As far as obsessive game collections go, I'd love to see someone go for a full Wii NTSC set. How insane would a wall of white cases like that look like. I'm amazed I haven't heard of anyone at least trying for one...I've never seen a picture of a Wii collection over 150-200 titles. There has to be some obsessive Nintendo fanboy/fangirl out there...

I haven't counted, but I've been using the Game Dude list as a general guide. It's missing a few very obscure titles, but it's generally pretty comprehensive.

I'm not going for a complete set, but I think I will eventually collect every exclusive title for the Wii. I'm at just over 400 games at this point although sadly I keep them in storage boxes, so no glamour shot of beautiful white cases on a shelf for me.

I clicked the link and was looking through the list. The buy back prices for used games look a lot better than any of the major retail outlets around here.

I've been going to Game Dude for years. They are a really neat store. Having said that, they are pretty picky about buy backs. They check each game for scratches or any damage and won't accept games with scratches (even very small scratches), so that's probably why their prices are slighly higher than others.

Too bad there's not a store like that over here. All my games are mint condition and I've turned down purchasing used games at Gamestop more than a few times because of scratches. The Play and Trade we had over here was more overpriced than Gamestop so I've only been in there once. There's literally nothing else over here :(.

I sold my copy of Xenoblade when I learned it was going for $100+. I didn't care for the game so I figured why not let someone else enjoy it.

I guess that makes me part of the problem. :(

Filthy capitalist pig!

Not that it matters much, that game was ruined when they decided to make it for the Wii.

Silly me, paying for The Last Story and passing on Xenoblade last year! Had I only known TLS would drop down to $20-30 for a new copy and still be readily available a year later...

I'd certainly suggest adding Endless Ocean: Blue World, as I don't think it got a terribly large print run, and it's a niche sequel.
I managed to find a copy last year (bundled with Wii Speak) at a local Sears after scouring GameStops for years, but regrettably the outer box was caked in gum and grimy grossness, so I just tossed it.
Also worth considering, IMO: Pinball Hall of Fame (Gottlieb collection). Not really "in-demand" but certainly not nearly as easy to find as their Williams collection, either.

Heard a lot of people mention Endless Ocean: Blue World as a tough to find game. Still looks like you can get it for fairly cheap used though. The pack-in with Wii voice seems to be a lot more obscure, but sealed copies of anything OOP are in general. Gottlieb looks like it moves at a decent used price ($20+) which seems like a good barometer for titles to consider here.

A few weeks ago I was reading a thread somewhere that was talking about Xenoblade Chronicles and how expensive it was getting and how great a game it was. It got me thinking that I had bought a copy of it when I heard that they were bringing it over. I checked through one of my storage cabinets and lo and behold, I have a sealed copy that I had totally forgotten about after ordering it. I think that is probably because due to college, work, and family stuff my game playing time is down to about zero unless I am playing a game with one of my grand kids.

DBZBT3 is in there on the "in demand" list - as in seems common enough to find but all priced high. 2 seems common/affordable enough still - you can get used copies for less than $20. I'll put Walk It Out on the "in demand" list as well, you'd be lucky to find it used for less than $30, if not $40. Good call.

I knew I should have purchased another copy of Xenoblade. I love this game. Even imported the soundtrack because the music was so awesome. But seriously it's one of my favorite games on the Wii. I also purchase the rest of the Operation Rainfall games. Haven't had time to play Pandora's Box yet.

The only few games I need to get on the Wii is Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Fragile Dreams, A Boy and his Blob, Madworld, No More Heroes 1&2, Lost in Shadow, and One Piece (looks awesome). I think that might finish off my list of the games I want for the system. Wii had a lot of garbage on it but the 1st party games where the best

I think you could probably find someone willing to make that trade. Ask around, here and elsewhere. I know some people bought extra sealed copies of Xenoblade, so it's likely someone has one they're willing to part with.

And Xenoblade is worth all this trouble.

WWE '13 for the Wii may be a pain to find in the future. It was released about a month prior to THQ filing for bankruptcy. Once 2K Sports acquired the WWE license they reprinted the 360 and PS3 versions, but didn't appear to bother with the Wii version.

The Wii release currently sells for a decent premium on Amazon:

Responding to the OP, I am fairly sure Wii Sports was not released in a standard case in North America prior to the Nintendo Selects release.
Did anybody actually buy a Wii Sports replacement disc direct from Nintendo (store.nintendo.com), because that is the only place I can think of that would have sold Wii Sports alone (Nintendo was asking $15 for it, but people were buying sealed discs, most likely unwanted from console bundles, for $30+. Again, those were sealed cardboard sleeves).
From Nintendo, I only personally ordered a replacement Game Boy Player disc from them and was surprised it came in a Japanese-style GC game case (small and clear with an angular piece that stretches across the case to hold the manual). Did the original hardware pack-in discs come that way?

Yes, that's how the GBP Disc was originally packaged when it was released.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to keep my eyes open on that forum topic I once came across - I'm pretty sure it wasn't on digitpress, maybe it was nintendoage. I suppose an NTSC edition of a fully boxed Wii Sports pack-in could have theoretically been released in Canada (or Mexico/South America for that matter???) - but it could easily have been a hoax (you can find nicely printed replacement boxes on ebay nowadays). I'll keep it up as rumored until I find that old post somewhere...

I'll add WWE '13 to the list - I saw that it was priced abnormally high, even for a new-ish game...

You would think, but so far their used price has remained steady. Tiger Woods 12 and MLB 2K12 are the last golf and baseball games for the console and maybe aren't so much rare, but retain the demand. WWE 13 never got the 2K reprint... so it's definitely a limited release. The Madden 09 Pink Edition is extraordinarily hard to find, especially for Wii.

For anyone interested, play-asia is selling Tatsunoko v Capcom for 26 bucks with free shipping for a limited time. From what I understand Capcom no longer has the license for the Tatsunoko people so its unlikely there will be any sort of downloadable re-release in the future

Apparently Gamestop is being accused of reprinting Xenoblade Chronicles (http://consumerist.com/2013/08/13/customers-accuse-gamestop-of-reprinting-own-wii-game-flooding-used-game-market/)

I do however find it kind of funny that people are complaining that they're selling it for $90 since that price point cuts into their own flipping profits.

LOL I know, cry me a river right?

I'm just happy that if they're reprinting it means more copies in circulation and more people can play the game. More stock means the price will come down eventually as well, even if it's only a bit. This is no surprise at least, GS has done the same thing since the PS1 days if there is a profit to be made.

I don't think they released Wii Sports in a regular case, just the Selects version. Sports Resort was though. Skyward Sword/Gold bundle is not so much rare as it is Zelda demanded, which is big.

Spartonberry, I agree I was trying to say that on AtariAge in a similar thread. Their game prices just aren't enticing enough. Even with the buy 2 get 1 free or whatever they do. Used New SMB Wii is still over $40!!!!

Has anyone seen the recent AlphaOmegaSin video? They're reprinting the game and sending it to Gamestop, but Gamstop opens the games (because they can only dictate the price of a used game) and sells them for 90. It really pisses me off. If anyone doesn't believe me, go to the Gamestop website, and look for copies of Xenoblade Chronicles in your area. Notice how ALL of them are used? Pardon my French, but fuck them.

Actually, they can dictate the price of a new game as well. MSRP is not some mandatory rule. While I think it's shady, so are all the flippers and resellers who scoop up modern games and resell them at a profit days or weeks after release. Frankly, Gamestop's price on this has brought the resale value down which is a good thing IMHO.

Sorry for the necrobump, but just last night I saw multiple brand new sealed copies of Wii WWE 13 still sitting on the shelves of a local major retailer. I'm guessing they'll still be sitting there until the day they eventually stop selling Wii U games (since most retailers just lump all the Wii and Wii U games in the same section) then likely wind up in a dumpster.

What about Mini Copter (aka Petit Copter in Japan, sometimes erroneously romanized as 'Puchi')? I was surprised to see it localized for the Wii when it had been a japan-exclusive for Xbox and PS2 several years before. In it you controlled a mini-RC helicopter doing obstacle courses ala Pilotwings, but with the Xbox and PS2 controllers it felt more like the real thing.

Leo_A

I didn't have any trouble finding a cheap copy of MiniCopter: Adventure Flight. Glad I did, too, since it's a fine game when played with a Classic Controller.

It's easily overlooked as shovelware. And those that do try it and try to fly with the default Wii remote controls are only asking for frustration. And it's not helped that most folks expect to be flying like an ace instantly (The entire fun of these games is their challenging physics). But I had a great time and fully finished it.

And Europe received all three PS2 releases, branded as Radio Helicopter, Radio Helicopter II, and Go Go Copter. Never played the Xbox game, but it appears to be a port of Go Go Copter.

If I ever get capture equipment setup, these will be some of the first games I showcase on YouTube since they haven't been done justice to yet, coming off looking like uncontrollable messes instead which is the exact opposite of how they really are.
