Hello Everyone! I'm new here to the forum, so forgive me if I am reviving an old issue. I searched a bit and didn't see this topic in the forum, other than a similar issue with an SNES. I could have overlooked it, but I digress.

I have three NES front loader consoles that I would like to fix up. Here are their issues...

1. Powers on and games load fine. However, controller one seems to be stuck on "Select". When I turn on Mario Bros./Duck Hunt or just Mario, it either goes straight to Duck Hunt, or straight to 2 Players. I have used different controller ports from a working system, and different controllers. The problem remains.
2. Works perfectly, aside from random black bars across the screen that relocate from time to time during the game. I can post a picture if needed.
3. Does not power on at all. The red light does not turn on.

The two I'm mostly concerned about are the semi-working units. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

For the one with the controller issues, I would try resoldering the header that the controller port connects to. If that doesn't work, then start swapping components between the two circuits until the problem moves to controller two. Since ceramic capacitors rarely go bad, I would start with the chips labeled TC40H368P.

For your video problems, more information would be useful.

For the one that won't power on, you will need to probe to find out where the power is stopping.
