Ok, so I’ve just about built up my NES collection to my satisfaction and am looking to move onto the SNES, thought I don’t plan on building an extensive library (maybe just 10 or so games); but here’s the thing, I’m not into RPG’s. So my question what are some good games (mainly platformers) for the SNES that aren’t RPGS’s. Here is a list I’ve researched so far, yes I know Link To The Past is a form of an RPG, but I like Zelda

Kirby Superstar
Super Metroid
Yoshi's Island
Link To The Past
Super Mario World
Mega Man X

Suggestions?

Might wanna think about getting some as super famicom carts. Super Metroid is cheaper than the US counterpart and has an English language option.
The Mega Man X2 and X3 games are also much more affordable as super famicom carts.

Contra 3

DK Country 1 and 2 are good platformers IMO, though some don't like them. Developed by Rare if that makes any difference to you one way or the other.

And if you're into Punch Out on the NES, Super Punch Out is *wicked awesome*!

I'll give a list, you can do the research. The first is a platformer, but has SIM CITY parts between stages to boost your characters abilities and life bar.

ActRaiser
Blackthorne
Castlevania Dracula X
Contra 3
Demon's Crest
Donkey Kong Country 1-3
Indiana Jones Greatest Adventures
Joe & Mac
Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Kirbys Dream Land 3
Magical Quest STarring Mickey Mouse
Mega Man 7
Ninja Gaiden Trilogy
Skyblazer
Super Castlevania IV
Super Ghouls n Ghosts
Super Mario Allstars
Super Metroid
TMNT 4 Turtles in Time
Ys 3 Wanderers From Ys (some light RPG elements, like Zelda 2 light)

Also if you want brawler/platformers, look to Capcom, Taito and Natsume stuff

Thanks! I'm starting to back off of my SNES venture at the moment. I checked the prices for a few games, and, oh man I didn't realize they were that high. At least compared to NES games.

Yeah, SNES is out of control right now. I was just looking at a few and people are asking $30 plus for Mario Kart. I mean seriously...

F-zero
Star Fox
Sim City
Wild Guns

and a flash cart for playing the great hacks and translations available for the system. Strongest homebrew community imo.

ActRaiser
Blackthorne
Castlevania Dracula X not actually that great of a game, and super pricey
Contra 3
Demon's Crest excellent game, but getting rather pricey as of late. Will likely get pricier before getting cheaper
Donkey Kong Country 1-3
Indiana Jones Greatest Adventures
Joe & Mac
Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Kirbys Dream Land 3
Magical Quest STarring Mickey Mouse
Mega Man 7
Ninja Gaiden Trilogy not at all worth it IMO. Grab all 3 on the NES for less than the price of this one cart
Skyblazer
Super Castlevania IV
Super Ghouls n Ghosts
Super Mario Allstars
Super Metroid
TMNT 4 Turtles in Time
Ys 3 Wanderers From Ys (some light RPG elements, like Zelda 2 light)

Man, you're giving him a list that will run him up into 4-figure prices in no time flat :(

There are a lot of good platformers that won't empty your bank account.

• Tiny Toons: Buster Busts Loose - can be had for next to nothing and is a really solid title
• Aero the Acrobat 1 & 2 - decent games, also cheap
• Aladdin - Different than the Genesis version, and worth owning
• Congo's Caper - fun and cheap
• Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 - not too pricey. Worth owning for sure
• Final Fight 1 - great beat em up, though parts 2 & 3 are pricey at this point.
• Krusty's Fun House - more of a puzzler than Platformer, but pretty cool nonetheless
• Maui Mallard: Cold Shadow - often overlooked title
• Pinocchio - not bad, dirt cheap
• Smartball - fun and cheap
• Sonic Blast Man - another good beat em up. Part 2 is expensive
• Star Wars (all 3 of them) - all good. Never understood why these haven't gained more value
• Super Adventure Island 1 & 2 - prolly don't need to explain these to an NES fan
• Super Bonk - it's bonk, but super! :P

That should keep ya busy for a while ;)

I gave a list of stuff I have and ignored price as I was going for quality. I know prices have become disgusting.

You can get a Super UFO Pro 8 Flash cart for about $50 or so via Amazon.

It's not the greatest flash cart in the world, but it will play about 85 percent of the software library on the SNES without issues. The saving system is really wonky, but once you get used to it, it's not that big of a deal.

The nice thing about having a flash cart, is that you can get your fix for the more exotic SNES games without spending a fortune on Ebay. Play the games on the flash cart, and then you'll have a really good idea of which SNES games really speak to you, and which don't, and you'll also be able to keep an eye on the prices, and take your time, instead of feeling desperate to buy because you're just starting off a library and need stuff to play. The Flashcart will keep you plenty busy while you slowing build up your collection.

Thanks for the advice. I thought I had my hands on an SNES, but can't find it. My wife let my sister in law borrow if a few years ago, now my sister in law can't find it; so this means I'll have to purchase a system. I'm going to put this endevor on hold for the moment.
