View Full Version : God's Revenge: Fire, floods, thieves and... game collections
GodofHardcore

In fictional video games, God is the final boss and the main characters kill him. In non-fiction reality, God has the last laugh. He burns games, he floods games, and with the help of Satan, taps into the dark side of humans and convinces them to become thieves and steal games.
When a traffic accident happens, although it is a tragic event, many passersby, whether on foot or by car cannot help but to take a look at the scene of the tragedy. They know they're not going to like what the see (blood, fire, corpses etc) but they cannot help their morbid curiosity.
When someone's game collection goes up in fire, we too cannot help but to click the thread and read up on all its disturbing details. For every wellwisher posting prayers for the unfortunate soul who lost his game collection, there are 10 lurkers thinking "this world really is screwed up but I can't help reading about it!"
As a gamer, these are the sort of "traffic accidents" that I stop my car for. It reminds you how insignificant you really are in this world. I've read about many game collections that went up in smoke but funnily enough, I can't find them anymore. Perhaps you can help. I will only be listing ones where significant amounts of games were stolen etc, not just a few games or consoles.

Origin of news: Famicom World forum thread
Damages: Fire burns down $50,000+ Famicom collection including many rare and priceless things. Owner of collection suffers second-degree burns. Customers of the owner also financially affected or delays in product delivery.
Post-disaster: Status and whereabouts of collection owner unknown.
More to come when I find them. I might also expand the thread to include other interesting morbid things like convicted murderers that had active forum (1000+ posts) accounts (Neo Geo forums).

Now to be fair, was it god who burned the games? Or was the fire started by someone smoking in bed..
Seriously though people I really hate it when God and Satan team up to convince me to steal video games.

Well, we are his children and since God is omnipotent, if the game collection fire was started up by someone smoking in bed then yes, it was God's plan to set this chain reaction into motion.
As you know, it is the Devil Satan who reflects the evil nature of man. It is up to man to resist the Devil's encouragement of committing sins. Which is convenient because it gives God a smokescreen and a scapegoat. God wants to destroy video games (because video game protagonists kill God) but he doesn't want to dirty his own hands, you know what I mean?

Well, what about Wisdom Tree games? I bet god loves those...
Satan, however, has every LJN nintendo game sealed and VGA graded.

I think that Ronald should be Satan rather than the Hamburglar, though. Hell is totally populated with clowns.

This brings up a really good question... Is there any particular true-to-Christianity religious video game that could possibly be considered a good video game, as opposed to a "Well, for a game designed entirely around Bible preaching, this isn't outright terrible"...?

The only good video game I can think of with religous figures is Noah's Ark for the NES, and, while it plays nicely, you couldn't bastardize the bible more.
I just read the story and I can't believe that after this guy had almost all his possessions, along with the skin on his hands, burn to ash, he still smokes cigarettes.

I thought about using Ronald but Hamburglar actually encourages people to steal burgers so it seemed more appropriate. The King actually gives people burgers for free which is opposite of Hamburglar, but both of them are basically encouraging people to eat these fast food burgers which only serves their own interests.

things like this are why i have been comtemplating insurance lately
Insurance specifically excludes coverage for Acts of God.
Stuff like the story in the OP make me wonder if private collections for irreplaceable items is a really wise idea. Thank goodness for ROM dumps anyway. And make sure your wiring is good, and unplug stuff you aren't using...the same old stuff I always say.

Actually, it wasn't the grammar that was the culprit, it was because I forgot to type a single important word that prevented the sentence from being understandable: kill
What I meant is that fictional characters kill God in video games, so God kills video games in real life.
Anyway, I edited my first post.
On topic, I have read about many valuable game collections that have gone up in smoke or stolen but I cannot for some reason find those threads again using Google.
I wonder if it's God working his mysterious ways again...

I forgot to write it in my first post but not only did we lose the game collection, the owner suffering burns, and his customers also affected, but the game community lost as a whole because the game owner was planning to properly document all the items he owned (including rare things that have little to no information on the internet).
