Hey Guys !

Was starting to feel a little nostalgic about my NES gaming period so i got a hand on one today !

But when i plug it in to my flat screen (yeah it's a flat one but i'm not sure the problem comes from there) , i hear the music and see a grey screen in which i can see the game but in a very very low resolution (like i see something is going on but no colors and unplayable).

So i've been browing the web to know where this could come from but i only found two things :
- grey screen of death (but it's not the case, i hear the game working perfectly)
- jumping screen because of the tv (it's not jumping, but seems more plausible)

Does anyone have an advice ?

Thanks !

Any shot you have the video cable in the wrong hole? Modern tvs got cheap and combine the component and composite plugs into one row and if you plug the video yellow from the RCA cable into the wrong port it will do this. I had it happen meddling with a switcher box trying to get around an issue before I realized I had no solution die to lack of ports n a tv I got last Black Friday.

Often I've seen that green is also your RCA yellow. My plug half and half on that TV colored it that way.

The only video connection i have is the big peritel one (yeah i'm French, don't know the english word for it ^^). My video connector is not divided into several white/yellow/red cables as some are.

Maybe that's the problem ? Should i go for that type of connexion ?

Is that SCART (21 pin connector)? Some SCART sockets require a good wiggling before the picture shows up, particularly when they are older ones. Do you have other devices that you use with the SCART socket on your TV with no problem?

Yeah it's a SCART connector ! I tried wiggling it but still this almost black screen. I have no other device using that.

The seller assured me it was revised etc, think i need to find someone playing on an old tv to see if the problem can come from compatibility ?

SCART is SCART. Have a look at this- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfIvoMk4w-s . He's doing it with a Saturn but it seems to be a general SCART issue. Make sure all the wires have a good solid connection before you start soldering anything. I'd also see if you get any more responses here first - NESs aren't my thing really!

EDIT - if you have multiple SCART sockets on your TV be sure to try it in each of them!
