I'm getting bad/garbled sound from my Genesis 1 (High Definition Graphics Model), especially on Master System games when I use a Power Base Converter, although some Genesis games (especially Sonic & Knuckles) are all problematic.
I'm using an AV cable, I have it hooked up to a CRT television, and the system is unmodified.
Here's what I've tried so far, with no success:
Replacing the caps in the Genesis.
Using headphones (the audio was still bad through them).
Switching AC Adapters.
Switching AV Cables.
I have tested the AV cable and AC Adapter on my Master System, and it works fine there.
I have tested other systems on this TV, and they have worked fine.
I have sent this thing to a repair expert, (without the hookups), and he was unable to replicate the problem, which leads me to think it has something to do with the hook-ups, but I'm not sure.
I have tried plugging the system directly into the wall instead of using a power strip, and it had no effect.
I have cleaned the system repeatedly, as did the repair expert, it had no effect.
What could be causing this problem?
