Man, has anyone thought of the glut of football games coming out this year?? This is off the top of my head....

Madden 2004 (PS2, Box, GC, GBA, PS1)
ESPN Football (2K4) (PS2, Box)
NFL Blitz Pro (PS2, GC, Box)
NFL Gameday 2004 (PS2, PSX)
NFL Fever 2004 (X-Box)

I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting one or two. Thanks to Acclaims for giving up on the QB Club franchise....Anyway, how do all these games continue to sell year after year? The only one I'm interested in is Segas with it's incredible lineup of features.

Well, I always buy the new Madden game. :D

I LOVE Football (Go Pats!) and it's one of my favorite things in life next to history, games, and women. ;) So it's only natrual I enjoy playing it. Yes, I know each game does'nt add TOO much from year to year, but there's enough to keep me (and many other people) buying it. Plus Madden 2004 looks like a HUGE difference this year.

Can't wait to get my hands on it on Tuesday. :)

The others? Well, Sega's 2k line has also sold almost as well as Madden and the infusion with ESPN makes for a wonderfull game. It's more of a arcade feel then the simulation feel of Madden. GameDay is 989's line, I think, and is average compared to the others. Blitz is ment to be a hard hitting, comical, not real game -- quite fun to play with others. :) And since Fever is XBox only I really can't comment on it.

Sport games have allways been strong sellers. They tend to draw alot of casual gamers. There has always been a lot of them. (Thats one of the reasons why sport games are so freaking rare on Ebay.) I personaly don't care for them that much but I have a lot of friends and relatives who buy and play sport games exclusively!

@ Klarth: *ahem*, don't you mean, "Roll Green Wave!" ?
And, I just have to comment on your worth-a-mention avatar. Cute.

And, in case anybody missed it, FOOTBALL IS BACK! After a long no-NFL-season period, Pre Season is in full bloom. I have no interest in Baseball, basketball, hockey, etc... The only sport I really care about is Pro Football, and the season goes by very quickly, leaving me to wait out ALL of the other sports until Fall returns.

AND, the SAINTS will be on Monday Night !! WooHoo!

Lastly, during the Jets game today I was thinking about the W/L pool somebody here was running last year. Who was that, and who wants to do it again this year?

Oh no. This thread is starting to appear really fucked up on my comp! I hate it when that happens.

O. Hamm: What's up with this? I dislike distortions too. Whoever posted that crap on the top will end up like Buchu on my avatar.

Everyone else: There are WAY TOO MANY football games out right now. Sports are my least favorite genre, but it is probably the most popular genre among American gamers. Figures.

Anyway, I've never played any Madden game, so this statement may make me seem a bit like a ranting jackass, but I must say that there is too much Madden out now. They could make a Madden 20x6 and I still wouldn't care. There's only one football game I give a damn about, and that's Tecmo Super Bowl.

It looks like my post was the culprit here. I don't know what happened, but I'm glad to see it isn't just my browser screwing the pooch here, rather everybody is seeing the same effect.

I'm going to try and edit my post, and see if that fixes things. (?)

It did! What was wrong with it?

Even the upcoming Castlevania game? I apologize, I am a little biased. Sports are my least favorite genre. while action-platformers are my most favored. Castlevania is the greatest series on Earth, but that's just my opinion. :rocker:

I said most crap.

The new Castlevania looks promising, but I'd rather it be in 2D.

Man, I've gotta throw out my cheers for Visual Concepts. The NFL2K games are my favorites by far. It's just all the little things, like being able to hit the other players on the field after the play ends, or watching a conference call by the refs, or listening to the play-by-play announcers endlessly riff on one another. And, of course, the game itself rocks.

And, of course, I was playing online in NFL2K1 all the time.

Yeah, far too many football games -- and too many of the same kind of football games. NFL Blitz was a fun arcade romp; why mess with that now? Oh, well, that's where the money is.

Yeah, I knew what you meant. Sorry, but I must reiterate that I'm a little down on sports, virtually and in real life.

I'd take 2-D over 3-D any day, but this is Castlevania done by KCET, so I'm not expecting a horrendous game.

My friend at EB said she expects the store to be a madhouse tommorow, with all five versions of Madden 2004 coming out the same day.

I wonder what the best time in there to slip in, pick up my pre-order of the PC version of Madden, and slip out is going to be? :-D
