I'm currently looking for any Doom prototypes and I've heard they're in the $300 area. Does anyone know what these actually go for?

Oh golly, Im sure there are only a limited amount around so the price will fluctuate a bit. I'm drooling a bit just from the thought though!

How would you even know they were real? Doom was a shareware game initially and was distributed by all sorts of companies in all manner of media. Also, there are multiple prototype and pre-release versions of the game available all over the Internet and I believe Id has simply allowed people to freely spread them.

There are console prototypes and the last one I saw was Doom for the 32x and some guy bought it for $300 on eBay back in 2011. I've asked around on the Doomworld forums, which is pretty much the only remnants of the Doom community that's still around ( unless I'm mistaken ), and I found this place a a few other places that have a marketplace for rarities like this. I was also told that DreamTR had a couple prototypes, but he probably sold them. Does anyone know where I can contact this guy?

I just want a piece of development history with Doom. It's one of my favorite games of all time.

I sold all my Doom protos, but I definitely got more than $300 each on them.

Cartridges will cost you A LOT and be very hard to find.

Even a junk title on 32X proto board would be expensive at this point in time. 32X Doom prototype would not be $300.

If you love everything Doom then your best bet is with a newer PC prototype of modern Doom title. Next cheapest would be modern prototype console game on disc format.

I've been looking around and can't find any other protos of Doom. I'm lucky I got one so fast.
