The mouse character in Little Samson goes by the name of "K.O.". Does anyone happen to know what these initials represent? Could it be a boxing pun? ;)

Here's what the manual instruction booklet for Little Samson has to say about K.O.:

K.O. the Enchanted Beast

The Lord of the Mice is the owner of the legendary Green Bell. Once a powerful and kindly wizard, he took a potion to escape from the thief Gamm. This potion turned him into a small but potent creature. K.O. is so tiny in fact, he can race across water without sinking!

K.O. has the same wall and ceiling climbing abilities as Samson. Combine this with his small size and you can get in and out of some pretty tight squeezes! His weapon is a delayed fuse bomb. These bombs do heavy damage after sitting for a couple of seconds. Press the B Button to drop from 1 to 3 bombs.

So no clues to the name origin in them manual, but I bet it's a pun to do with him time delayed bombs. They will "knock out" opponents.

Apparently his name was Kou in the Japanese version, from what I get out of a Google search for 聖鈴伝説リックル.

Kou is a common shortening of the name Koutoro or Kotoro, a common male name in Japanese like Steve or Bob in the west. The translation team probably saw Kou as Ko and therefore K.O.

I bet that explains it.
