I've seen several recommendations for this kit, and sylentwulf is a well-regarded seller. In fact, I have that very same kit (don't remember if I bought it from sylentwulf), but I've only used it on my Game Boy Advance, for which it was [EDIT:] PARTLY USEFUL. I like the fact that it's magnetic, too, since those tiny screws can be a pain to run down if they get away.

I haven't seen this kit in a store, but then, I haven't really looked. Some of those bits are standard items at hardware stores, but I don't know about the tri-wing security bits (which are presumably the main reason you are interested in the kit).

WAIT! WAIT!!! I just remembered that the set was in fact NOT ENTIRELY satisfactory for taking apart the GBA, as some of the screws were set too deeply to reach with the bit. The afterburner kit I had ordered came with a tri-wing screwdriver as well, and I had to use that to get some of the screws out.

Sorry about my misremeberance.

genesis carts
Nes carts
SNES carts
SNES systems
TG16 systems
Gamegears
Xboxes
Gamecubes
Power supplies for all Sega and Nintendo systems (al easily repaired with a soldering iron and this toolset)

it might be easier to list what I can't get into with the set:

Gameboy (some screws recessed too deep- need a dedicated riwing screwdriver- not a bit)
GameCube controllers (same deal as above)

That's it.
:-D

PS the NES, Genesis, Ps1, Ps2, Lynx, just use regular philips screws so no special tools are needed.

pssst Sylentwulf... where's my twenty buck endorsement fee? Today toolsets. Tomorrow I'm on the Wheaties box!!

I also highly recommend these tool kits. I don't know if sylentwulf has them, but the really thin tri-wing drivers are a great addition, I needed to get one for my Wavebird.

I bought mine from this seller, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=18807&item=3039473378

They are kinda expensive (no doubt you could probably find them elsewhere cheaper) but his shipping was REALLY fast.

I'm told the tri-wing security bits also show up in little things like Happy Meal toys, if you ever wanted to disassemble those.

Oh yea your right..I just looked at the back of them and they do have tri-wing security screws holding them together..

I recently bought one from sylentwulf and it immediatly paid for itself as I used it to help me open a TG-16 and repair it for a friend, as well as having a small enough phillips bit for me to fix a PS2

I'm sure you don't need any more reccomendations but I also bought this tool kit from sylentwulf and found it excellent for NES and SNES! I have cleaned probably close to 300 games so far with the tool kit and a white eraser which not only works better but is less messy then q-tips/alcohol/windex.

Plus sylentulf gave me a deal because I bought off ebay (so that he doesn't have to pay the fees so he can probably take it off the price of the kit!
