Wal-mart PS4 Preorder Question

I have never preordered a console and swore I never would but this generation is starting to grow on me more and more. I know most places are out of their preorders but Wal-Mart has recently reopened their preorders up.

My question is when you go to their website to place the order it has two sentences that contradict each other.

"Preorder this item today and it should arrive on or just after 12/31/2013"

"The PS4 console will ship free on launch date 11/15/2013."

Does this mean it may ship on the 15 or on New Years or the console will ship on the 15th and all the accessories will ship on New Years?

Since i'm not WalMart, my guess is that they're covering their asses by saying the end of the year. They may not get enough quantity to get them to all pre-orders at launch and to have a by 12/31 window saves them from not fulfilling it.

Just email them and ask for clarification.

Amazon had their date at new years too, so maybe they did too before the actual release date announcement and havent changed it. There is going to be shortages though maybe so expect to get it after Christmas if you werent in the first pool.

don't pre order from Wal-Mart. plain and simple. you'll probably not get it till Feb. last I heard online pre orders and being back ordered. hence the date do far out. in store pre orders are even worse they are supposed to stop after the quota is filled but it never does and some people don't ever get their pre ordered items so their stuck with a card and short their down payment.

Wal-Mart's "vip" pre order program is still new and isn't well thought out at all aswell as full of bugs in the computer system

I didn't realize Wal-Mart was known for that. I appreciate the reply, I've tried contacting them asking them what to expect and I can't get an answer.

I wasn't planning on buying a launch console has I never have but this generation is the first time since the N64 that I've been this excited about it. I guess I'll go back to my old plan of waiting for the first price drop and slim model to come out and then buy the console and a bunch of games all at once.

my first "launch" console was the Wii, i managed to get one black friday so it had been out a week i think.

but yea its pretty bad for their pre order although its nice having something like that at launch but with these prices going up and up i can understand the price drop thing

They finally replied to me and stated the 11/15/13 date is wrong and that it would not ship until around New Year's. If I was going to get one it would only be if I could get it at launch so I'll just wait, it's all good.

Maybe I'll go out and pick up a Wii U, it's about the only console I don't currently own.

Exactly why I thought I'd go ahead and purchase it. I've wanted one but not bad enough to pay their old price for it, now it'll be at a price where I'll pick one up and a bunch of games as well.
