Wow, so you just joined today and this is your very first post, a link to a Kickstarter project. How odd. I'm guessing you have heard of Nibbler and you are a backer or creator of this project. This looks like a rip-off of King of Kong. How many documentaries do we need on people trying to beat video game high scores?

Well, I don't care if he joined today or 10 years ago, I LOVE classic game docs, and the more the merrier! The campaign is not for a ridiculous amount of money, so I think it's safe to attain.
Interesting that Dwayne Richard AND Billy Mitchell/Walter Day are part of this, considering how much Dwayne was pissed at them for King of Kong. I assume unlike Kong, this time there's no "editorial shenanigans?" Ha ha.
And come on, a 300 pound fat guy riding a BMX bike? That's hilarious. I love the Don Bluth designed poster reward as well.

I don't have a problem with someone joining and promoting a commercial venture like this. I do have a problem with someone lying about their connection to a project like this person did. Just be up front about it. There is enough shadiness on Kickstarter without this kind of misrepresentation.

Billy Mitchell should just be left out of this film, he had his day with kong. He always comes across as such a jerk. Hes probably pissed that hes no longer even in the top 5 for DK high scores.
Yeah I also noticed the big guy on the bike and I had a little chuckle.

The project was mentioned--and the KickStarter video was even played--on Leo Laporte's nationally syndicated radio show last Saturday that has millions of listeners, so lots of people heard about it (including me) who had never heard of Nibbler. Given the publicity it received there, especially considering that the show targets the enthusiast community, we shouldn't automatically assume s/he's connected to it. Maybe he is, but we shouldn't call people out for being misrepresentative when we have no proof.
However, I understand your reaction as I see this happen a lot, too. But maybe he's just a listener to that program whose interest in retro was sparked by that discussion and he just discovered our boards. We simply don't know.
And I agree with you about Mitchell. He seems like someone I would dislike.

Did the OP have a smell or something like that which "tipped" you off? I personally reposted this kickstarter on several forums including Atari Age, where it hadn't been before, and I haven't even donated yet. Odd that the OP would choose this forum and skip all the others I use. I'm sure if it was a person involved, they would have said so, instead of just posting a link and half a sentence.
As for Mitchell, he's a "name" so they're using his popularity to sell the movie I'm sure. What distributor has ever heard of the "other" Tim McVey?

Hey guys, didn't mean to stir up any controversy. I do apologize if I came across as being deceitful. It's true, I do have connection to the filmmakers -- and I never heard of Nibbler until this documentary. From what I've seen so far it looks really fun and I wanted to help get the word out. This seemed like a great place to post, since it's all about classic gamers. Normally, I come here for all the resourceful Atari 2600 easter eggs, but thought I'd get a user name and drop a link and help some friends out with a worthwhile project.

The August 2013 join date and single post count are a pretty good tip off that the account was just made for astroturfing this kickstarter. If a well established member like you had posted it here there would probably be less flack, but you never know....

Well I post stuff like this all over the place to drum up support, even when I'm not connected. So I don't see what the big deal is, he's not here promoting a game selling website or anything like that.

The film is NOW on Netflix as of October 1st, so if you have an account, I highly recommend it!
