Earlier today I bought a modded sega saturn with a bunch of games and controllers from a guy on craigslist.
The guy who had it also had a Dreamcast system, which he says was modded as well. I know DC systems are not super expensive, but I am curious what one with a mod chip already installed might be worth. Any input would be appreciated.
Also, what exactly does the mod chip do? I know some DC systems will play burned games, so will the mod chip enable the use of burned games on those models that dont play burned games, or does the chip just enable you to play Japanese games without using a swap disc? I currently dont have a DC so getting one that plays imports without a swap would be cool.
Also which model DCs play burned games? Do any of the black sports edition DC play burned games or is it just the white versions. The one he has is a white one.
He also said one other thing that confused me. He said the system was refurbished because using a 'non-sega' controller would damage the board (?) or the mod chip. The guy was kinda hard to understand. When he was telling me this he held up one of the blue DC sega brand controllers, the kind with the blue front piece and the white back part. This made no sense to me because it obviously is a sega brand controller he was referring to. Any truth to any of this?
