I've not seen them in high demand. Maybe he's just happy to be rid of the thing that was taking up space. The games alone are certainly worth the price you paid IMO.

My original NGPC had a weird problem where it would randomly lose all its settings, even on a brand new battery. This would happen after a glitch and sudden reboot. But I don't know if that was a common problem or if it was just mine.

Though the prices of systems has gone up in recent years, the price of loose games hasn't gone up much. There are lots of loose cartridges left over from when SNK went under and was bought by Playmore. If I assumed wrong and you got games in boxes, you got a great deal. If you got a system with the games, you got a good deal as well. Several years ago, $40 for a system and those games would probably be a normal price.

I think this may be an issue I have seen come up several times. The springs that hold the batteries aren't putting enough pressure on them to keep a solid connection when the system is jostled during play. You can stretch out the springs to help the connection and probably solve the issue entirely. It also would be a good idea to clean the battery contacts with a q-tip and alcohol.

System itself is $40-50, the games are still pretty cheap.
