Just got this today for my kids. I played it for a few minutes and did not think it was bad. I did see a few glitches, but nothing game breaking. My kids love it. They been waiting a few weeks for it to come out. Anyway just seeing who else got the game, and what did you think about it.

Practical writing tip: before abbreviating a title/term/or what have you, introduce it spelled out in full first if its abbreviation isn't common knowledge (i.e. "ER," "RBI," or "TV"). While I can't speak for everyone, though there is no doubt in my mind which iconic comic book/television show TMNT is referring to, I don't have the foggiest what "OOTS" stands for. Any ol' ways...

After searching Youtube for TMNT OOTS, I see the game doesn't follow the standard Konami linear beat 'em up Turtles formula. As repetitive as beat 'em ups get, it is kinda a shame that this game isn't one since the genre is definitely not receiving the [sometimes deserving] love it once did, but, then, I suppose that genre is more or less dead, and the world needs another one like it needs another folk singer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1n8rfFRvIH0).

Soo many times I see this and lose interest in the topic because of excessive abbreviation.

For the longest time I never knew what D2 (Diablo) was because of that. Or what if I said I loved TRGB growing up. Yea figure that one out.

First of all, this is a Ninja Turtle? Huh?

Secondly, XBOX Marketplace is selling individual turtle costumes? Do you only get 1 character when you buy the game?

I've heard this is really, really awful--like Superman 64 awful.

Should I knock it before I try it? No, but I'm not going to spend money to play it given its horrible reviews.

Not trying to be a dick here, but could someone still tell me what in the blue blazes of Hell OOTS is? I don't feel like having to research it to know the title of the game.

Also, every time I see D2, I don't think of Diablo 2, I think of the Dreamcast game D2, which was the sequel to the 3DO game "D", which, before I get schooled by someone being smarky, was also later ported to the Saturn and Playstation. As for abbreviations? GoW? Is it God of War or Gears of War? Pretty annoying one too.

@ The original poster, get mad all you want, but if the readers have to look up what in the Hell you are talking about, and it takes a little bit of time they may not even want to spend, then guess what? They have the right to complain about not knowing what your abbreviations mean. It has nothing to do with you being an English Teacher, and more to do with you being inconsiderate and assuming that because it's been on "Every Gaming Website for the last six months" that we should automatically know what it means. Perhaps this is the only gaming site with current games on it that said gamers visit? I know it might be hard to believe, but the only time I visit other gaming sites than this one, it is a console specific retro console. You'll understand it once your kids are older and start saying stuff to you that you don't understand and give you that look like you're an idiot because you don't. Hip as you may be now, just wait until you get older and just don't get it. Oh, and by the way, before I started going blind and had to leave, I was an English teacher. ;)

Not sure why you say kid when you clearly speak like one (ish).

So according to you I'm not a gamer because I don't visit joystiq or ign and know every acronym for current games?

My collection says otherwise, but what do I know oh great gamer.

Yuppers, the point I was making above. LOL At least I'm not the only one that saw that.

Thanx' Greg for clearing up what OOTS was. I was originally thinking it might be that he missed a B or an H at the beginning of the word, but made no sense since it was a Turtles game. ;)

Just wanted to come here and say sorry if I offended any of you. I was drunk, and do get annoyed when people try and correct others spelling and so forth. I expect to get that on sites like gamefaqs because of the a..holes on their boards, but I have been posting on here for years and have never had that. Most people who post here are cool and just dont do that. As for me saying kid...thats just a saying I call a lot of people. To answer some questions about the game since I had some time to check it out today. Well it does have all four turtles as someone asked, and it does have a lot of graphic glitches, and some hit detection issues. Some of the bosses can be brutal. It also has some camera issues. If you are looking for a mindless beat em up then this is the game. Story mode is ok, but I liked the arcade mode better. Its plays like the old school game. I would give it a 6.5 out of 10. Not the best, but I have by far played many games that were worse.

I actually visit Kotaku and IGN daily and didn't recognize the abbreviation.

Why do so many people on the internet hate proper grammar? Seriously, nearly any time you try to help correct someone's grammar, you're labeled a "grammar nazi" and are treated like you just threatened their family. Where does this mindset originate from?

I'm not "attacking" you, but it's a rather common phenomenon I've observed throughout the last decade or so.

Actually, you are close. I just went looking for it. Appears that it's Out of the Shadows. Out of their Shells was a concert four in the 90's? Must have been when I finally was getting out of the whole TMNT thing. LOL Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Rock Concerts. Tells you how much of a sell out license that was at the time!

Coming out of Their Shells, to be precise. If you really want to know more, check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgjIAazExA8 . But I don't think you want to know more that badly.

I think I have a VHS about that concert, if it's the one I'm thinking about. It was awful.

As for TMNT OOTS, the fighting and unlocking of new combat skills is fine. I don't like the camera zooming in-and-out when you jump around and stuff. Another annoying thing is sometimes you don't know where to go or what you have to do next in some areas, leading to bunch of meandering around trying to figure it out.

Haven't played OOTS, but have watched the VHS. I was a huge turtles fan back then, and couldn't even watch it as a child. I think it's the first time I felt embarrassed just watching something.

Lovely, another graduate from the IHatedSega & Needler Finishing School of Shitposting. I'm sure this will end well.

In any case, I had a chance to play a bit at a friends house. Nothing particularly fascinating or new, just a generic, overpriced beat'em up.

Not to be a cranky, jaded old bastard, but can any new beat 'em up aspire to anything beyond generic at this point in the genre's life cycle? I have yet to play it, but kudos to Double Dragon Neon, uhh... I mean DDN, for satirizing the genre and the decade that it came from.
