So I have owned my Turbo Grafx 16 for a good while now. I have noticed members here have modded theirs with RGB and I have also heard about a special type of cable in the CRT thread called a scart that uses bnc connectors. So I am guessing that the RGB their talking about isn't compatible with computer monitors. Anyhew. Would it be better to go with a PVM and a scart for multiple consoles, or to go with the turbo booster? And whats the difference between the Booster and the Booster Plus?

The Booster is just AV, the Booster Plus is AV with a saving feature so you won't need to worry about passwords with compatible games. I would just go with the Booster/Booster Plus rather than anything else, though I pretty much stick to original stock consoles and even basic RF is fine with me.

I am leaning towards the booster. I just dont see me taking a dremel to a classic tg16. If i had a spare no problem. I like modding handhelds. But mainly cause i can get them for super cheap in my area. I do like the idea of having almost hd on 16 bit games though. Is there a list of compatible titles for the plus. If order of the griffon is on it, that would be worth it alone. The password takes seemingly a half hour. When i was a kid i always started a new game. Now that i know better. Its tasking to put the password in but needed as i dont have a lot of game time as an adult.

Classic tg16 without a cd drive, doesn't strictly have to be modded. One could plug an amplified RGB cable to the expansion pins.

scart is the big famous europe RGB socket.
american monitors may use bnc instead or even a din connector.

tvs in japan are a different relative to scart. don't concern yourself much with it.

I had some PC switch cables with single pin connectors for the motherboard, so I took those and made an AV cable that connects to the corresponding pin on the TG16's expansion connector.

There are ways to make a custom cable that uses the external port on the back of the TG-16 to get composite or RGB video and audio from.

The point with the SCART cable and BNC as you mentioned is that most of our state-side TV's don't have SCART inputs. Furthermore, most video processors/upscalers (I have a DVDO iScan VP50) do not either. So you have to go from 21-pin SCART to something else. Normally that is BNC inputs, or even RCA jacks. You can buy cheap adapters to go from one to the other. The SCART to BNC/RCA cable has to be custom made, though I've seen custom ones sold in bulk. Cost about $30. To get RGB from the TG, most modders are removing the RF jack and using a Genesis Model II style of AV port which you can then use a Gen-II SCART RGB cable for.

I'm not sure if it's worth the money? I have a turbo booster, and I just run it through the video processor via composite and it looks fine. Honestly Tg-16 RF video is not that bad, but having separate stereo sound is a must.
