So I just picked up a decent Virtual Boy from a guy on Craigslist for 5 bucks! But sadly, the left side is not working. I have seen that you can reconnect the cable by opening it up and putting it in the oven, but is there any other way? Can you use a hair dryer on the heat setting instead? Thanks for all and any help you can provide.
P.S. And where can you get an extra-long Nintendo security bit to fit inside those deep holes? :(

probably not a hair dryer, possibly a heat gun which is like a hair dryer on steroids but you can damage other things with that aswell.
soldering iron I have herd is probably the best

Solder. Other methods are more like bandaid fixes, much like all the towel around an Xbox sort of crap.

Thanks for the input, guys! :) I think I'll end up using a soldering gun.

BTW look up security bits on ebay. I have seen many slender ones that are up to 3 inches or so. Should be plenty to get that VB open.

As an alternative, you could dremel a slot into the end of the bit, insert the bit in the hole, and use a flat-head screwdriver on the slot.

I just bought a bit from Newelectronx on eBay, and it claims to fit. They even have a picture of it fitting into the deepest holes without any dremeling, so that's a plus. I am also going to use this to get into my Turbografx and maybe fix the RF input. Wish me luck, it comes on September 23rd (about)!
