Hello Everyone,

I recently picked up my first Sega Dreamcast at a yard sale. It was in a box and there we're 2 Dreamcast's but only one came with wires. And a bunch of games. However both Dreamcast's have problems one plays perfectly but has no sound. The other Dreamcast has the laser reading problem and won't play games at all. The one that has the laser reading problem has sound though so I know it can't be the wires that are the problem for sound with the other Dreamcast. I tried fixing the one with the laser problem but couldn't get it to work. Does anybody know how I can fix the no sound problem with the other Dreamcast? Please reply and thank you for your help.

Have you looked at the pins where the A/V Cable attaches to the Dreamcast console? If some are bent, that might be the issue. Also, if the cord is frayed or spliced anywhere, that might be an issue as well.

Check the solder points for the a/v. Also look for bulging or leaking capacitors.

By "fixing" do you mean you adjusted the POT on the GD-ROM without any equipment to check how you were affecting laser output whatsoever?

If so, I can see why nothing improved. You can't just modify the POT on an optical system and expect the results to be positive despite what the internet at large says. Keep in mind these will be the same people who say sugar in the gas tank=death to your engine.

Because fuel filters don't exist.
