I'm currently using and old school composite cable on a CRT television for a PS2 and a component with a Ps2 on an LCD.

Well, the CRT is doing the PS2 A LOT of favors. Everything is smoothed out, not as sharp and some jaggies are nicer to look at.
On the other hand, the composite on the LCD is a blur fest, no mater how I tinker with the settings. The component is sharp as a tack and there in lies the problem...too sharp.

So I messed around with the settings on my LCD TV while hooked up with the component cable and managed to default my user settings that take some of the harshness out of the graphics.

brightness 45
contrast 95
color 45
sharpness 30
color temp : normal
dynamic contrast : high

While not ideal for viewing anything else on these settings, they really made my ps2 games easier on the eyes.

Or maybe just get rid of dial up internet and get a ps3?:)

I think those specific settings may only work for your particular model of LCD TV, which you have left unspecified.

Have you tried a component CRT? It's the nearest easily found alternative to RGB monitors we got.
