I just plugged my ActionMax in and put in Sonic Fury. I think my unit may have some problems. It does increase the score if I put it in Special Mode, but not Normal mode if I fire at a target. So the stupid suction cup thing doesn't work, I put Scotch tape or held it in place as I shot the TV screen. Nothing. I noticed when I took the cap off the sensor and unscrewed the little light bulb, there was red stuff coming out. I wonder if just the bulb needs to be replaced? Where does one go to get tiny bulbs like that? I'm hoping this thing can be fixed because I was planning on making a homebrew game for it. I shot the video and everything. Argh!

Sorry you are having issues, that's a major buzz kill when you have a project lined up. Is that the unit I sent you (check your pm if so).

Basic trouble shooting... What kind of television? The sensor does have to be over that white spot, iirc. What is the red 'stuff'? Powder, liquid /gel, glass?

The red stuff looks to be hardened liquid. And I'm using a CRT TV.

Just for fun, I thought I'd try to make my ActionMax work again before I'd spend about $40 buying one off eBay. So I went and it wasn't working. That is, until I fired at the screen at the intro, and the red light flashed and the score increased by one! It finally decided to work...sort of. I kept shooting at the intro target of Sonic Fury and it was working, most of the time that is. So I guess I can play The Rescue of Pops Ghostly on Halloween night after all! And also I can start work on the homebrew game I was going to make for it. I filmed about 20 minutes' worth of forest footage (it's a hunting game where you hunt alien deer.) So hopefully I can get enough VHS tapes to warrant a run of about 10 or so. I don't know how many to make.
