It's the first time I get to start one of these threads. Found some stuff today.

At Value Village;
2 Speak and Spells for $2.99 each plus tax
1 Speak and Read with travel case for $2.99 plus tax
Japanese Bomberman 64 with Ultra 64 converter cart for $2.99 plus tax

At Salvation Army;
Pokemon Pearl complete in case for $2.99, tax included

At Dollarama;
Bromwell High DVD set for $2 plus tax
Chaotic Volume 2 for $2 plus tax
Manon: Volume 2 for $2 plus tax

I got lucky with the N64 stuff as it wasn't priced with the video games, it was with the toys. I'm sure it would have been more otherwise. Picked up the DVDs because they seem to be expensive on Amazon, I'm not sure what I'll do with them yet. I guess I could have started this thread a few days ago as I had other finds then too.

I just had to edit this because I misspelled one of the DVD titles.

I just got back from Seattle, and with many thanks to MetalJesus's Google Map of the retro/classic game stores in the area, I cut a swath through the central and northern region and acquired some neat things, at what I (being from the DC area), consider pretty reasonable prices.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/sparf/IMG_0502_zps393bfb51.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/sparf/media/IMG_0502_zps393bfb51.jpg.html)

The stores I hit:
Game Guru (second location, apparently) - Fairly hit or miss here. They had a few nifty things but their prices were no different than I'd have spent on eBay on a bad day. I bought Dragon Warrior and Robocop there for way more than they're actually worth. Not because of any collector-value but because Dragon Warrior was a game I loved so much as a kid that I bought it from my elementary school classmate for $5 way back, and I wanted to have a boxed copy again. Robocop was a fond memory for me because it was one of the earliest games I bought with my own money. $9.99 at Toy Liquidators in Pigeon Forge, TN.

I paid $25 for Dragon Warrior and $20 for Robocop there. I also found a copy of NES Volleyball (the old black-label) for 7 dollars. I never see it in the wild so I picked it up on a whim.

Video Game Era - This store was a bust. The guy was super friendly, but really, his prices were pretty high and he didn't have anything I desperately wanted. I wasn't about to drop $14 for a loose copy of Spider Man: Return of the Sinister Six. I generally get leery when someone doesn't put price tags on their stuff, and this was no exception.

Another Castle - Now THIS was a store I could sink my teeth into (and I sank my wallet into). The staff were friendly, talked with me about my purchases and about various video game lore and youtube reviewers, and just were overall wonderful. Also their prices were pretty damn fantastic. If I had needed it I could have picked up a plastic Playstation rental case for 7 bucks. As it was I spent a lot of time in there and also playing their well-stocked arcade.

I picked up:
SMS trackball "sports" controller - $12.99
NES Wireless Controller by Acclaim (boxed) $14.99
Exodus: Journey to the Promised Land (box, manual, original sleeve) $10 (roughly, I think)
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest $10
Action 52 (genesis, loose) $59.99
Bomberman 64 - $15.99
Paper Mario - $39.99
Double Dragon 3 (to complete my trilogy) $10

Pink Gorilla (Their newest store) - I had a really good time in here, too. Not as much of a selection as Another Castle but certainly a lovely amount of import carts for Famicom, SFC, and then import Saturn, PS1, and Dreamcast.

Picked up:
Gremlins 2 (NES) - $7
Pipe Dream (NES) - $6
Donkey Kong 3 (NES) - $13
Inspector Gadget (SNES) $10
Animaniacs (SNES) $8
Intellivision AD&D (boxed, manual) $4
Bleem! For Dreamcast (Gran Turismo 2) $2
Sneak King and the other Burger King XB360 games, $5/ea

Overall, I feel really good about this trip! I picked up some oddities and things I want for conversation pieces in my collection (the Action 52, for example, even though it's not the truly infamous one), and I didn't spend more than I thought these things were worth (in some cases I spent much less!). 'Tis a good time.

This time I kept a price limit, not more than $5 (excluding tax). Blade DVD sealed. Music CD isn't intended for me.
Weird to find Asian version Tenchu Shinobi Taizen, says "printed in Hong Kong". I don't expect another. Too bad the insert got wet.

Sega Genesis Games & & Wii Zapper - 5
Pokedex - .50
Everything Else - 5

Asked about games and the Sega Genesis games were brought out which were mostly good for cases if anything and took my offer of $5, all of the boxed Genesis games are complete. The Pokedex was asking price. Everything else I found out at a yard sale, .50 per PS1 & 2 per PS2 games and I don't even know what they were asking for the DVD but they took 5 for what I got. The Power Stone DVD is sealed with some holes in the wrap, Dark Cloud 2 & Tetris Plus are missing the manuals and In The Hunt is disk only with the rest being complete.

Saturday Flea Market..

The Day of the 360 and Xbox Systems
I saw more broken 360s ...and old Xboxes in one day then ever.
Prices between $70.00 to $100.00 for a Slim...all untested 360 systems or no hook ups included.

I was dropped off at the flea market with my oldest Son.my wife took the van and went shopping..My goal was to not buy anything big or heavy off the bat as I didn’t bring anything to wheel the items around in..
I run right into a vendor I know and he has an Xbox system..I always check these as I’ve scored modded, debug systems etc. for cheap..
$5.00 I didn’t buy it because I didn’t want to carry it..

I don’t buy xbox systems to sell,a vendor friend sells them so I but them in more of a trade item.
The next vendor I also know, she sells most things for a -20dollar,so I just could not pass up the books and plus doll item for $10.00 total..UGH.these books are heavy and dual bagged it’s breaking.
Games $1.00 Each,not scratched.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/Chris1/2012%20PICTURE%20ALBUM/2013%20PICTURE%20ALBUM/GOGGLES042_zps93728b54.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Chris1/media/2012%20PICTURE%20ALBUM/2013%20PICTURE%20ALBUM/GOGGLES042_zps93728b54.jpg.html)

Now I’m on the hunt for something to carry these books in..Cart,shopping cart, luggage with wheels,Baby Carriage..So many people are pulling around these such things and I feel like an ass struggling to carry this heavy bag.
Each vendor whom sells such type items is asking $15-20 for used baby carriages, rusty shopping carts.the heck with that I’d rather carry my stuff.
I didn’t give up..
I come up to another vendor I know and he has 5 xboxes $10.00 each..that is too much to carry and a bit much to pay for untested systems...He also has a PSP with games,no charger..I recently picked up two PSPs that I use so I don’t need it ..He wanted $100 with six common games .no charger, never knew if the system worked, dead battery..
Next vendor sitting on a silver Nintendo SP with a few basic carts,in a soft carrier..He wants $125.00 and has had it sitting for months..
Old PS3 Tape over the slot $150.00

This bag of books is now tearing into my palm.the back is ready to rip,I’m looking for lone blowing around bags..
I spot this bike..OHHH this is what I look for .
$25.00 and he has a cart for $10.00.I offer $5.00 and now I have a fold up cart to pile stuff on and wheel around..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/Chris1/2012%20PICTURE%20ALBUM/2013%20PICTURE%20ALBUM/1375674_649594978419205_603402227_n_zps9e4ba26d.jp g (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Chris1/media/2012%20PICTURE%20ALBUM/2013%20PICTURE%20ALBUM/1375674_649594978419205_603402227_n_zps9e4ba26d.jp g.html)

This bike Needs work, but this is my thing.I fix these bikes up...I’ll have this bike, running and shined up in a few weeks...already bought a new charger for $15.00 shipped.
http://youtu.be/WOyqm119RKw

$5.00.DORA 4 Wheeler .I have the charger,it took a charge and works.

I was walking the dog last night, spotted an Intellivision in a cardboard box on the curb to be thrown out. Picked it up, walked back home. Plugged it in, and it works! Needs a lot of cleaning though. Boxing cart was there too. There was a small trash bag next to it, and I wasn't going to open that up and poke around.

Saturday Flea Market..
Why do I keep going to this S...T Hole of a place I don’t know why..Crowds,bumping heads ..Garbage..rip offs..
I’m not finding anything...I search and dig for hours and find nothing, then when I do it’s grossly over priced.
For instance: I need a SNES deck, for testing games ..I don’t care it’s condition as long as it works, even if the power supply port is broke..I find one, lady wants $60.00 for the deck untested...I ask her if she tested it and she said yes ,I ask so where are the hook ups,I don’t have them..So how did you test it,she gives me a dirty look..
I run into the same old guy,a bunch of systems .$100.00 xboxes $50.00 PS2s..He’s been sitting on a SNES system in a super market plastic bag for weeks.,It has paint on it..I take a poke again,he asking price $50.00 OH IT’S NEW,IT”S GOOD.It’s WORKING..I look in the bag,no plug, and has a PS2 AV..I show him the AV and that it doesn’t fit and her gets mad at me argue mental..The only thing working in that system is the roaches,scumbag..
I come across a Atari 2600 Console $100.00 Firm..
Clean out guy I know..PS2 console only..$50.00 and he’ll throw in a PS controller..
Before I left I see some game items nicely linbed on a table, the guys dad is getting on him to lower prices as he hasn’t sold anything..His prices are Crazy $200.00 for a used Wii system..Then I notice his glass display,an assortment of games but again grossly over priced...$75.00 Super Nintendo Games..everything was Over Ebay price..

Kids: There is one lil kid who sets up a small table with his mom..He has a white 06 Xbox 360..He wants $85.00
Comes with an original wired Xbox controller ..My son calls him on it that that controller doesn’t work on the system and the kid swears in front of his mom and she joins in that he uses that controller ..
they also have a old PSP no charger,..oh yeaaaa it works,$75.00..

I found out that two specific Big Bux guys come early morning, have deals going on with most the vendors and they buy up 90% of what I don’t see..

I still go for that once in a while great pick up or for the Motorcycles I find..otherwise it’s a total waste..Then my friend who went garage sale hunting instead shows me his pick ups and I was just sick over it..
Another friend saw two Midway Arcade machines at a garage sale too...
...............
Saturday Flea Market..
My wife picked up some new baby clothes $1.00
I bought Broken DS $5.00
N64 with Game $15.00

When I got home I went on a bike ride with my oldest son..We run into a

That's the most annoying feeling. I've went to estate sales that have specific boxed slot car sets pictured in the ad, listed in the description, pushing them as one of the big items. Get there before everyone else and there they are! Open the packed up boxes and... it's just a bunch of miscellaneous beat up track and parts from other sets. Complete waste of time.

And what even Grinds my Gears more is that the guys says,'oh that a rare set and it's all in there'..

whats all in there..?..a box filled with misc parts not even AFX..The big 4 speed type shifter controllers were clearly not in the box and highly pictured on the front of the box.
I wanted to see the cars but he wasn't making any effort to show them to me..
If cheap enough I may have bought it just for the box, some of the boxes are quitre expensive but once he said rare I wasn't going any further..
Also ddisgusted by the blatant lie that it’s all in there..these guys today even kids will look you in the eye and straight up lie in your face with no conscience.
That’s not how I do business..

I have a goal to own ever slot car set I had as a kid,one was a fold out type where the cars ran through plastic channels, the plastic was in the shape of hills, grass.to this day I can't figure out what the name of it was..

I ran into two other sets I had as a kid at a flea market at the same time/same vendor ..I was ready to buy but the guy was in a bad mood and would not sell anything..

17 Disk Only Games - 2.50

These games were 6 for a buck. XIII is actually complete, in the top right corner is a pile of 4 games I bought just for the cases.

http://i43.tinypic.com/kdtjk2.jpg

Top Row $10.25
500XJ Controller - 2
Resident Evil 0 & 1, Blades of Steel & Tetrisphere - 14
Rough Looking GBA SP With Crap Game In It - 2
Slik Stik - 4

All disk based games with cases are complete. Crazy Taxi was in the case with Crazy Taxi 2. You can't tell so well in the picture but Perfect Dark Zero is the LE and I'm guessing it has everything it came with, it was marked 10, Kameo 5, Dreamcast 1.50 each & MGS3 .25. Got the 360 games for 4 & 3 and paid asking for the rest. 500XJ was 3 and took 2. GameCube games were 5 each but the guy offered to do 4 each so at first I offered to do 7 for Resident Evil & Blades of Steel (I'm pretty sure this guy was asking 6 each for his N64 & NES games). I then ended up getting the other 2 games for 7 then. GBA SP wouldn't turn on but was 2 bucks asking price. The Slik Stik was 5 and I offered 3 to which we ended up meeting in the middle at 4.

Everything Pictured (And Not Pictured A Black 4 Switch System Only 2600) - 34

All of this stuff was won with 4 different bids. The Coco 2 stuff was 7, The cassette tape games (and I say that very loosely) are all complete in box. C64 & 5 1/4 floppy drive 3. Atari 600XL which I guessing is complete with hookups & manual 5. And last but certainly not least everything else came up all for one bid (along with the 2600 not pictured) which I ended up with at 19. I'm no expert on imports but I'm guessing the system is a Famiclone and that most or maybe even all of the Famicom games are bootlegs. The boxed Pal games are all complete except for Urban Champion which is missing the manual.

Damn, dude, I'd kill for a haul like that one. I don't find much of anything nowadays.

I stopped at a GameXchange in Lufkin, TX last week and bought Jungle Hunt, Miner 2049'er, and LadyBug for the Colecovision (loose, naturally) for $1.99 each. The copy of LadyBug is a PAL format European release, made by CBS. I always wonder how things like that get over here.

You mean, "My Health Coach: Stop Smoking with Allen Carr?" Yeah, I do. It's awesome! 10/10, easily! (I especially love the soundtrack!)

I can also recommend another game from my fantastic DS collection, namely "How To Pass Your Driving Test!" It really is on par with these two, other games!

I don't even know what's real anymore when it comes to the bottom of the barrel of DS shovelware. :P

Hah, indeed! This is my tenth title for the DS, and six of them are shovelware, with another one that might be considered shovelware, but which I actually got with the intention of playing. :p If I see any titles in the wild for £1 or £2, I'll usually pick them up, no matter what the system.

So, not video game related, but gaming in general. Was at the flea market today with a friend when we ran across a guy who had just bought out a comic shop somewhere in the bay area. Guy had a huge pile of D&D books. Ended up only getting about a third of them for $20, as we had gotten there late and he'd already packed up a bunch. Said he'd be around next weekend and would sell us the rest if we liked.

Haven't formally gone through and sorted all the books, aside from the two WoW books, but here are some pics none the less.

Repairs.
Three 360 systems, two are RROD ..1 works but the tray sticks when the system is vertical,I opened it up and changed the disc drive belt..Fixed..it’s a late 08 system with HDMI,20 HD,controller hook ups,and even it’s original box, baggies, paperwork not shown....It was originally bought for $20.00,the tray was stuck and the people thought it was broke...I needed a spare so I wound up just paying the guy I do repairs $70.00 bucks for it..Both my Sons have 360s and play a lot,if their systems go bad I have a system just incase.
I still have to work on the other two 360 plus another two, looking for a good deal on repair kits.

Xbox is a repair,sticky tray.
PS2s work but not consistent..I’ll clean them in and out if no good I’ll just sell them broken..

A bag of NES sleeves $5.00
Misc items $1.00 each or a bag full for $1.00
SNES Box no system..this was actually a trade in with mint system from a few weeks back,I have a TON of system boxes..

I actually worked a street fair flea market in a wealthy town.selling game items.
Not many sales...very slow but crowded, lots of browsers...a $25.00 Gamecube complete and a free game is WHOA that’s to high-RUN Away...
Kids looking and buying original game boy systems, gameboy games, original Xbox Games-knowing about what they are buying-that is Cool...
I don’t live in a wealthy town but when I work a flea market here or in local towns we do 3 times the sales selling the same things we bring to the wealthy mansions town.
Gamecubes sell easy for $25.00 in my town..SNES systems are in super demand...kids look for new system games more though..

James does signings at various events and video game conventions. I have an NES controller he signed for me about 5 years ago. He doesn't charge for his auto and given the amount he signs at the conventions it probably isn't a terribly valuable signature. But it's pretty cool to display? So tack on a few buck but it's not quite Michael Jordan ;)

Final purchases of the month! BOO!

Just a heads up with that Ghost in the Shell 2 release, it was recalled at one point because it lacked english subtitles as described on the case. It only had captions for the hearing impaired, which get annoying if you can hear. I know this because I bought the same DVD release, and of course the company no longer offers disc replacement. If you can, try to find the later Bandai release which fixes this and includes an english dub as well.

Thank you for the info.my friends daughter is a big fan of James and now the game is on display in her room(she's also a gamer.

I'm trying to get them to come to a NAVA meeting as I think she'll have a great time.

Guess what I found...

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/finds-2013-10-30a_zps13a6ed73.jpg

$15 total. The discs have some scratches and Snatcher appears to be a former rental. I'm keeping D and Mansion of Hidden Souls. The others will be sold off to pay for a new computer.

After I play them, of course. 8)

I'm a little bit pissed off because there were tons more games I could've bought to upgrade my copies or sell off, but I've been almost broke for the past week so I couldn't afford them. I still think I did OK...

Oh I also got this for a buck:

Bought three Saturn import games in the one good Play N' Trade here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Battle Monsters ($8.99), Toh Shin Den U. R. A. ($13.49) and Angelique Special ($8.99). Now I need to figure out where I put my ST Key cartridge......

Came across other stuff today but didn't buy any of it. A thrift had a Sears Telegames II Atari console hooked up playing Ms. Pac-Man, but they apparently wanted to sell the entire set-up; console, 21 games and controllers, and also the television it was hooked up to. All for $79. I've already got a giant tube TV, I don't need another one. I probably would have bought the console itself, but I don't need the entire ecosystem along with it.

I found a miracle piano in the box with stryofoam. It has the NES cable to hookup to the NES and the power supply.

It works and sounds great except for 1 of the black keys does not make a sound. $10.00 at a garage sale in town

Yep pretty expensive game. I'm not a huge fan but it has a certain niche appeal and did not have a large print run I don't believe.

I think it's like $120-$150 depending on condition. It is quite nuts because the price just exploded over the last couple years. Excellent game (and series) though, probably my favorite on the system.

I thought somewhere Vic Ireland said that Popful Mail and Lunar 2 only got like 20k copies (each?) because by that point most stores didn't want Sega CD games anymore.
